Bug Ugly Those expensive MBL speakers that look like a hot air balloon.
Opinions on NOS 45 Tubes That has alot to do with your personal taste, in the sound of the different tubes.Probably the one that gets the most attention is the RCA Cunningham 45. It is a real nice tube.Everyone that I have talked to prefers the new Emission Labs 45s over ...
Best group of the late 80s/ 90's The later Level 42 stuff with Mark King and Alan Holdsworth.Just those 2 guys alone have more talent than the rest of the late 80s and early 90s bands put together. I don't think that the Level 42 material was the best they could do, but at least ...

This Sistrum stuff works Dekay, that's cool! I never tried the Stephens drivers, but one thing is for sure, you will hear what the benefits of directly driving the speaker, with no crossovers, can do.If you like the coherency, then you could move up in drivers if you want...
What are the best cartridge matches for Linn LP12? I like the Goldring cartridges with the Basik tonearm. I am pretty sure that the Linn Adikt is a OEM version of the Goldring 1042. Audio Note also uses a OEM 1042 for their MM cartridge lineup. It is a good cartridge.
This Sistrum stuff works Hey look. I thought my report was quite fair and balanced, without the usual hype associated. If that was not suitable, then maybe I'll just leave it between you guys and Stereophile. You can sort it out with your own wallets.
Opinions on New Reel to Reel Tapes Depending on what tape deck you have, and it's bias selections, you may need to use standard Iron Oxide, or Ferrichrome, or CrO2, or Metal tapes. I have had some reel decks in the past and found good quality from Maxell, in all of the above formul...
The right choice for pre amp / volume control. I'd try out a Bent Audio transformer volume control. These overcome the typical problems like flatness, and other things that commonly occur with passive preamps of the resistive type like Placette. The transformer control provides a much better i...
Giving up on Power Race, and going SET? Alright Alex, give us your theory. I'm getting tired of waiting for De Lima to respond to your email. My curiosity is getting the better of me.Maybe we can discuss it while we're waiting for De Lima to respond.
This Sistrum stuff works Dekay. I used the closet technique before, a long time ago. My current situation does not allow that. But I think the idea has merit. However, some of the best improvements I got were with the platforms under the speakers. These improved the color...
This Sistrum stuff works Ohlala, I didn't use the discs under the points, because after my conversation with Robert at StarSound, he said the points would work better without the discs. The discs are to protect the floors or equipment, and actually get in the way, a littl...
This Sistrum stuff works Max, I was just trying to let you know that my floor is very similar to yours. And the Sistrum stuff worked for me in that type of application. It seems things are getting sidetracked onto personality issues.
This Sistrum stuff works Max, I have a floor that is very similar to yours. I have a wood floor on traditional suspended joists, over a crawl space under the house. I don't have a carpet. I use rugs on the floor in front of my speakers to keep reflections down. But my flo...
This Sistrum stuff works Garfish, that's an interesting idea. I know Steve M. is a very knowledgeable guy. I wonder what the idea behind the dual-method is? Maybe he is just covering all the bases, in case one method isn't working, the other one will. I don't know. All I k... |
