should i go with kt150's now or wait a bit??
Ahhh cynicism, you have to love it in our hobby, I sure do, it keeps things real. I am curious though, how many of the posters past Tomcats last and Wolf’s most recent have heard and compared these tubes with others in something they are quite fam...
Your picks of mediocre or lousy vocals with great musicians!
It's always a matter of taste wouldn't we agree? EXCEPT in the case of Yoko Ono or could a fan step in and let us know what we're missing. I agree John diminished his influence by promoting her. See what love can do? One comment  "Joni Mitchell ha...
The Beach Boys
Another recommendation to you Actusreus, if you're into  jazz, is Antonio Carlos Jobim (Tom) the driving force of Bossa Nova from the early 60's and IMHO one of the most original pop/jazz composers of the 20th Century who collaborated with many of...
The Beach Boys
I agree with Rich, listen several times closely to Pet Sounds. There is really so much to hear in those very original arrangements that still hold well today. If you still don't get it, that's ok too. There are many BB fans that certainly don't ho...
Neutral electronics are a farce...
"The entire country of Switzerland is neutral, so I suggest all serious hifi listening should be done there."I would suggest that since we won’t all have the opportunity in our lives to visit that idyllic land we should at a very minimum listen to...
TUBE AMP LOVERS - What SS amp makes you smile???
What makes me really smile is someone asking the question, what SS amp sounds like tubes? Of the SS amps that make me smile not because it is SS OR tubes but that it sounds like music is the Symphonic Line Kraftwerks, VERY  impressive and probably...

Good for you tomtab. Now don't forget to come back and tell us your findings! So far as the price going down, that would be good news for sure, I'll probably pick up another set just in case of an unexpected production stop in Putin's Russia.
should i go with kt150's now or wait a bit??
A very novel idea Tomtab, you could try it but good luck trying to differentiate exactly what you're hearing. Better to compare directly with the same tubes in both amps. I do believe the sonic attributes of the Kt150 tube will be to your liking, ...
Favorite Female vocals that give you goose bumps
On a more serious note to the stupendous list above  I would add one more I didn't see Elis Regina, a Brazilian treasure. She certainly has given me goosebumps on more than one occasion.
ENTIRE SYSTEM NEEDED TO SELL
My sincere condolences for your loss Michelle. On a practical matter concerning selling his system off, little could be added to the excellent advice given by Douglas Schroeder. He pretty much covered all the bases for you moving forward.
I think I've Just Seen Absolute Proof That Audiophiles Are Insanely Gullible
I’ll bet the Stillpoint folks are jealous! It is certainly a beautiful piece of audio jewelry for the most discerning audiophile. Love those ebony bullets, too bad you can’t see them.As far as nothing justifies the price. One could say the same th...
What's your biggest surprise in hifi?
"That as I get older and into my later years, music is even more enjoyable now than when I was a kid ... and that's really saying something."Amen to that Oregonpapa!
I have seen some Interesting comments about Mcintosh lately
Thanks for your explanation bdp. While I never considered most McIntosh gear past the 70's "cutting edge" I really feel quite differently about some of their earlier products of the 50's and 60's. I've listened to some quite incredible Mac systems...
I have seen some Interesting comments about Mcintosh lately
It's all in the recipe, right Nab2? Slow and tubby, LOL. I'll tell you what this hobby really needs, new cliches.
I have seen some Interesting comments about Mcintosh lately
"McIntosh has NEVER been considered a sound-first product."Not too sure about that comment bdp24. I really don't know how many of the vintage Mac products you've listened to but Frank McIntosh and Gordon Gow were first rate engineers and real pion...
