Why do digital cables sound different?
Dazzdax,IMO, yes, it is a common difference between coax and balanced digital cables. You've essentially described the difference I hear almost every time between spdif and aes connections. Occasionally, the spdif will be better top-to-bottom, but...
A question for those who've chosen a Valhalla PC..
Gbmcleod,I think some of the character you're attributing to the Valhalla power cords can be blamed not on the cords themselves, but on the sonic character of other components in the chain, such as AC outlets, power conditioners and IEC sockets. I...

Newbee,The curiosity is killing me; which power conditioner would you suggest to build a system upon? If not one, name a few?
Which cable is most important to spend money on...
Agree completely with Robert from Ridge Street Audio, and Nsgarch. My ears tell me that there are quite a few reasonably priced interconnects and speaker cables that get passed over because they don't offset the effects of colored power cords and ...
W and M Interconnects
They were selling power cables with counterfeit Oyaide connectors here on Audiogon. So take that into consideration before making a purchase.
Digital Cable Help
If you're on a budget, I second the stereovox cable, it's the best at it's price. I wasn't so impressed with the VH audio Pulsar, I found it to have a flat presentation. I absolutely love the Audioquest Eagle Eye.

Power cords. As I've found recently, every other change/upgrade you make is affected by your choice of AC components. Dedicated lines first, if possible, and then power cables, interconnects, speaker cables.I'd also avoid committing alot of money ...

Trcnetmsncom wrote:Valhalla can show just how colored other cables are. I don't find Valhalla at all lean, I think it just exposes all the muck other cables impose on the sound. It's too neutral for its own good. Resolution galore!!!After doing a ...
Let's build a subwoofer interconnect
Spatialking,While I mostly agree, I find it hard to separate the negative audible effects that shielding has when in proximity to signal carrying conductors from any positive audible effects gained from a reduction in RFI/EMI.
IEC Connector Suggestions
DgClark,As (your) luck would have it, I've recently listened to every commonly available AC connector out there. If you want the most revealing and neutral connector, get the Furutech FI-25R Rhodium-plated connector. While some find it a bit 'cool...
Let's build a subwoofer interconnect
If you accept the idea that any cable can do the job, why spend $25? You can get shielded subwoofer cables from http://accessories4less.com for 7 bucks. Why pay someone $20 to put techflex over Canare/Belden?
A question for those who've chosen a Valhalla PC..
Thanks for the replies. I've moved my smaller speakers into the room to compare the two cables. I've found in the past that my smaller monitors tend to make hearing what's 'really' going on easier. What may sound like a bit of warmth or coolness o...

Elberoth2, I was hoping for feedback from others who've made the comparison. At this point, I'm putting aside my preference, and simply need feedback to hear how these two very different cables have been integrated into others' systems.Anybody?
Recommendations for a sub $600 power strip?
The BPT pure power center can be had with FIM, Oyaide or Wattgate outlets for under $600, and you could still have some ERS cloth installed, and get the whole thing cryo'd.
AC captive cords???
Um, just to be clear, I was just having some fun with what Eldartford said. Sometimes we need a laugh in this 'serious' hobby. I'm a firm believer in power cables. For a serious answer to the original question, I had a similar issue with the capti...
