2 subs connected to a 2 channel amp?
Node > sub out > If I recall correctly using the sub out on the Node you loose  the ability to bypass the internal Node Dac, therefore no external Dac can be used.  
Protip: Using a sub? Plug your mains
Socks everybody has them give it a try, I did some time ago but went  back to wearing them. Lots of variables will affect the results.

First thing to check, within your Node app what does it indicate your WIFI signal level is? Second, once a proper Mesh WIFI network was added all WIFI levels increased greatly including the lower level of the home farthest away from the router...

You didn't mention what Dac model you were having issues with using Coax/ SPDIF out. There are some that do not interface well with the Node.
