Benchmark USB DAC vs. EAD 7000 Mk3 DAC
Davey, I agree pretty much with Jsadurni. I tried the Benchmark in my system. I have a Mk.III, that I have had for many years but was upgraded a few years ago by the boys at Noble (Boelen at the time). IMO my Mk.III sounds better than an unmodifie...
Anybody have some experience with Bedini amps?
If you can find a 25/25 jump on it. I sold the Oblelisks to move to the Diapasons, and the little Bedini could drive them but honestly not well. After several years of using other Bedini gear I moved up (and I do consider it a move up) to an AVA F...
Classical speakers that do violins well??
Shahinian. Nuff said.
Anybody have some experience with Bedini amps?
David, it WILL drive a pair of Obelisks. I ran a 25/25 into mine for years. Worked quite well, if not quite able to make them go to the highest SPLs. While I've moved up in both amps and speakers, I'm sorry I sold both.
Some Questions about Plasma Screens
Output, was any sort or stretch or fill mode available for 4:3 on your TV? This has me worried, too, as so much content is still 4:3.
Better than my 32" Sony Wega XBR?
Sigh, I went to Tweeter after work today and looked at the Pioneer Elite Kuro, the comparable Panny, and the Sony XBR5 LCD. Knowing that none of them were optimally set up, it was still disappointing to see that none of them (actually no flat pane...
Better than my 32" Sony Wega XBR?
Many of the responses so far discussing the advantages over CRT seem to be centered on resolution and size. I have no doubt a 32" or 36" XBR can't compete in those areas, but is anyone here saying that their flat panel set - of any type - can bett...
Better than my 32" Sony Wega XBR?
Well, since you started this as a new thread I'll jump in. :-) In my case I have the same TV and have the same opinion as Jeff. I don't know about you, Jeff, but the answer for me cannot be a projector. It must be a self contained flat panel. Some...
Who has the best plasma monitor these days
Jeff, I'm in the same boat as you. Have the exact same TV. Love it. But I guess those of us who haven't will be moving to a digital TV this year. But between the color and contrast shifts off axis with LCDs, and the lack of detail and definition i...
Why use CD Transport instead of computer source
I'm curious, because of the recent discussion in one of the audio rags concluding that high-end servers sound better than transports. Also, is the Transporter an advantage over the SB run through a high-end DAC?Ncarv, I read this too. I will not fo...
Why use CD Transport instead of computer source
Yeah, I saw this on his web site forums. It looks like he really is going all out on the Transporter mods. I thought I saw one being sold here on the 'gon just a short while ago. It may have been Alex himself selling it.
Why use CD Transport instead of computer source
Ncarv, I didn't see a smiley or any other emoticon so I'll assume this is a serious question. In my case, at least, my observations are based on comparing my CDs to the same tracks on my PC in FLAC lossless format. Sources level matched. SB3 conne...
Why use CD Transport instead of computer source
I hate to pile on, but IME Mike and Hamburg are right. I have a didgital modified (by BOLDER) SB3 feeding my DAC, but also an old Proceed PDT-3. Back in its day the Proceed was one of the best transports out there, and it's still quite competitive...
Enlightened Audio designs
Tex, I'm in agreement with Sam. If you decide that the upgrade is for you, then what I can tell you is that going from a I to a III will be a BIG improvement. Sam is also right about the glass input - mine does have that (I use it with my Proceed ...
Enlightened Audio designs
Tex, at the time I bought it (many many years ago) I think it may have been somewhere in the $400 price range, but I am really guessing. But don't let that scare you off. Send Greg an email; I suspect if he has them the price may be determined by ...
