Calling all acoustic guitar fans...
Correction... the Tuck Andress title is "Reckless Precision".
Calling all acoustic guitar fans...
Narada Guitar, any Ottmar Liebert, Tuck Andress "Reckless Abandon" (which I'm listening to right now), The Coryells and a definite second for the Pizza Tapes and anything else with Grisman, Garcia and Tony Rice, which can be found on Acousticdisc.c...
Subwoover and Quad L-Series Speaker comb. help
Snappy, I'm interested in how the 12Ls are working for you as surrounds. I have the 21Ls and Quad L center, but thought the 12s wouldn't be suited as surrounds because they are rear ported. Do you have them attached to the walls or on separate sta...
What's the most anolog sounding CDP
I second the Ikemi. Much smoother than anything I've heard at its price point. A great value for around 2k on the used market.
What is the warmest receiver...
I guess those who won't listen to radio in their cars also won't listen to it in their yards or the beach. And forget about ipods and other mp3 players with their compressed sound. At some point it's not about the music anymore if you can only lis...
QUAD 21L or 22L opinions please punch them in
I just picked up a a pair of the 21Ls for a second HT/music system using a Rotel 1055 receiver and the original rega planet for cds. I have been very impressed with the sound right out of the box. The highs are very smooth and though the bass stil...
What is the warmest receiver...
Rotel or NAD. Although the Marantz is musical, I'm surprised anyone would describe it as warm.
Audio Research D400 mkII
I have to agree here regarding the 100.2. I auditioned a lot of ss amps, including Krell, Bryston, Classe and thought the ARC much better for my tastes. Mixed with a nice tube or hybrid preamp (LS 15 in my case)you get a rich detailed sound thats ...
Best HT in a box speakers
Check out the link to CNET below, they rate several and give high marks to Onkyo and Panasonic. http://reviews.cnet.com/4502-6740_7-0.html?tag=srch&qt=&orderby=-7eRating
Linn Movie Classik vs Linn Move Classic Di
Larry, is the Panasonic good for HT as well? From what I've read, you need to re-program the unit flat to get good 2 channel sound. Is it a hassle to change it back and forth between 2c and HT?
Paradigm 60 vs. Quad 21L
Good point Buddy, but so far the dealers here only seem to carry the electrostatics. Even a web search turns up mostly British sites. Maybe Melbourne isn't such a backwater afterall! I appreciate the feedback though, they do sound like they're wor...
Paradigm 60 vs. Quad 21L
Thanks Nathan, I checked out Singer but they only have the Quad ESLs on hand. I'll probably wind up going with the Paradigms as I seem to be surrounded by dealers carrying them vs the Quads.
is it me or sacd.
One thing interesting about this thread is that no one mentions the equipment they are using to compare the various formats. From what I have heard of sacds (I have not yet heard dvd-a), they require a very good player to really shine. I've heard ...
CD lense cleaner. Is it necessary ?
This is what "What HI-FI" has to say about your question in a section of their web site re: system maintenance......CD player lenses can also get dirty, especially in smoky or dusty environments. If your player starts to skip, you can try a cleani...
Linn vs rega cd players?
I upgraded from the original Planet to the Ikemi. The Ikemi has all of the musical attributes of the Planet, including the smooth highs, but adds much more detail and better defined bass. I was equally impressed with the excellent build quality of...
