I would love some suggestions on great acoustic... I saw Gordon Lightfoot live in San Francisco the other night and I'm reminded how much I like his music. What a great body of work! Your description of "flowing and melodic" is his style in a nutshell.
Goldmund Studio - still relevant today? 20+ years ago I found a dealer with two Goldmund tables for sale-a Studio and a Studietto. The dealer offered me either one for $1,000. The Studio had a modded power supply, and the Studietto was stock. I chose the Studietto, my mistake. I sold it...
Learning from him No more coffee for this guy!! But seriously, isn't there a filter for this sort of thing? This belongs on some other forum, or maybe not.
is buying used Mcintosh equipment online bad idea? Buying anything used is a gamble, even McIntosh. I have three Mac pieces in my history. The first, an MX-130 preamp (bought on Audiogon) arrived with a low-level hum that does not come through the speakers. The seller included a McIntosh UR12 touc...
Audiogon suggestion box I empathize with your experience and know it is frustrating. However, there is no requirement that offers below the asking price be answered. The dream of buying something you want below the asking price is universal, and calling you a "flea marke...
Diminishing Interest in POP. I hate earworms I read the first line of your post and, FWIW, I thought I had written it. Now in my sixties, and considering my investment in stereo equipment and music, I try to listen to music every chance I get. However, I feel a little ridiculous when I put o...
The best Standmount Loudspeaker $6k or under Was there a question in your post? If you had included a picture it would an advertisement, or a review. You are obviously happy with your purchase.
The Plangent Process playback system? Huh? It's becoming a familiar story. Take the back catalog of the most popular artists, claim to re-mix or remaster it, and roll it out to a public that is hungry for something new from their favorite artists. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, who's next? Wel...
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh? The simple answer to this post, if there is one, is that McIntosh equipment is a good hedge against inflation. Check out the Audiogon listings and count how many McIntosh pieces are selling at, near, or even more than new. The bonus is that for th...
I would love some suggestions on great acoustic... Jorma Kaukonen's (former Jefferson Airplane member) "Blue Country Heart" is acoustic guitar, with voice. Listen and decide. It sounds like your style, it works for me.
Sony ES vs Rotel Obviously, this is a very subjective question. For sound quality from source components, I prefer Sony ES over Rotel. My perception of Rotel has always been "a quality product at a real world price," similar to NAD. That's not a negative, but for ...
Can headphones ever be as good as high end stereo? Bfin3,So that this thread doesn't end on a negative note, just try a few high quality phones and you'll learn what many of us already know, i.e. that headphones can give you state of the art sound at a fraction of the price of speakers. A pair of ...
Correct method of hooking up Sonus Faber speakers? I used to use two separate runs of Tara Labs Space and Time speaker cables without jumpers. I have switched to using the jumpers with a single run of heavy Tara Labs RSC Prime Bi-Wire cables. I don't remember reading the SF recommendation of using...
NEED A RECOMMENDATION FOR NEW CD/SACD PLAYER Sid,I completely agree with your comment. I still own a Mac MX-130 preamp and I just bought a tube Mac 275 MkVI. I still believe in their amps and preamps, but their other products are a different story. Buyers beware!!
When I turn it up, it turns down Take the advice you see above. This just happened to me with a Music Hall Maven that I use in a room just for TV sound. I was planning to give it to Goodwill, but just for fun I plugged it back in, and guess what? It worked fine! |
