sonus faber electa amator iii or magico A1 or any other suggestion
FWIW, when we bought our (original) Electa Amators we were told that the tweeter was the Dynaudio Esotar, which we believe gives them that smooth Sonus Faber sound. I believe later versions were made by Scanspeak. The walnut and marble stands were...
sonus faber electa amator iii or magico A1 or any other suggestion
I have owned the original Sonus Faber Electa Amators for about thirty years, and can recommend them highly. However, all the magazine reviewers just love those Magicos. You say you have heard them and thought the sound was "fantastic". Why wait, j...
Clearaudio Innovation Wood or Oracle delphi
You are faced with a great choice. Once you decide, don't look back. You will have great analog system. Keep it for the next 30 years. Personally, I have always wanted an Oracle Delphi. Lucky you!
Worst Concerts You Have Attended ??
Dixie Chicks at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. That venue may be fine for boxing, but not for concerts. Michelle Branch was the opening act. The sound system was awful.
Install Quality IEC input on Nak Dragon
My Nakamichi ZX-9 had an IEC when I bought it. It can be done. I don't know the manufacturer. Find a qualified tech with Nak experience. That model is too nice to be ruined by an amateur.
Should I trust movers with my equipment?
Let the movers take care of everything else. I would seriously consider packing your stereo gear into the car (or truck) and driving there myself. Consider this: once something is damaged (or disappears), it's too late!
Magnum Dynalab tuner
stereo5,The price I quoted was straight from the Audiogon Bluebook. Obviously, tuners are difficult to sell these days as radio content just doesn’t justify the investment. Considering the original MSRP ($3600), it sounds like the buyer of your tu...
Magnum Dynalab tuner
The Audiogon Bluebook lists two Magnum Dynalab 102 models. The 102 (2000), and the 102t (2004). The average price today is around $1400 for either model.
Next to theaters, cars are the ideal speaker environment
I agree with everything erik said above. Sadly, many auto manufacturers (Honda, for one) don’t even offer CD players as original equipment anymore. If it weren’t for XM radio, I might consider taking the bus (LOL). Candidly, I had a Mark Levinson ...
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
If it hadn't already been mentioned (at least twice), I would have said Dr John's "Gris Gris". Great stuff!
Clearaudio vs EAT turntables
fjn04,I can’t tell if your question is for me, or the OP. If it’s for me, I thought I made it clear that I bought the table. I’m still happy with the sound and have loaded up on reissue vinyl. I’m sure that if I decided to sell the table someone w...
Suggest one obsure album we all should hear
Bruce Cockburn-"Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, Singles 1979-2002"This album contains "Wondering Where the Lions Are", "Lovers In a Dangerous Time", "If I Had a Rocket Launcher", and "A Dream Like Mine" all on the same album, plus 12 others. The CD t...
Clearaudio vs EAT turntables
bobbydd,Last year, I wrestled with the same dilemma. I considered the Clearaudio Performance w/arm, the EAT C-Sharp (w/carbon fiber arm), The Dr Feickert Volare w/arm and commensurate cartridges. I had settled on a budget of around $5K. I read eve...
Who else is using old cables/interconnects, and is happy?
I’m using cables from two companies, and yes they are old: Kimber: Illuminations D60, AGDL digital, KCAG and power cords. I also use TARA Labs: Space & Time speaker cables, Reference and Pandora "S" interconnects. I read somewhere that it was ...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE
I have had my Sonus Faber Electa Amator speakers since the early 90’s. I haven’t been tempted to replace them yet. If I did, it would probably be for a pair of Quads, any of the many iterations.
