Sub best at high crossover?
Hey, if it sounds good to you, then by all mean, continue on. The only problems I see are in two areas. The first is that at some point (or frequency), bass becomes directional. In other words, you can hear the sub woofer, or that the bass is comin...
Upgrade question - speakers or integrated?
If you just want to warm things up, maybe you could try just sticking a tube buffer into the system and see if that does it for you. Yaqins get pretty good reviews and are under $200.Still, your question is one that I've found myself pondering a f...
Anyone enjoy their amp's sound more than music?
I suppose that some people listen to the gear in the sense that, in some cases, the journey is more important than the destination.Personally, I like listening to music. When it is played through a system with good synergy, the music moves me and ...
amp for Silverline minuet supreme plus?
I have a pair of the older Minuets coming in. It's been a while since I got to mess with these speakers, so I did some research and opinions ranged from their being the best thing since sliced bread to being on the bright side.My experience with O...
Squeezebox dropouts - another question
Unless I'm mistaken, the SBT only does "G." It won't do "N." You also have to consider that much of that bandwidth is being eaten up by security packaging.I've found that running hi res works best if you use a wired connection.I really don't think...
Squeezebox Touch simple 24/192 output mod
Sorry, I think that I what I said above may have been unclear. What I'm trying to say, in short, is that if you are putting yourself through all of this, modding your SBT and such, with the intention of streaming high res from a streaming service,...
Squeezebox Touch simple 24/192 output mod
I did NOT configure SBT to stream any service at a higher bit rate. That is the point that I'm trying to make. The highest bit rate that I am aware of is 16 bit at 320kbps at best from any streaming service.I can't begin to guess why your DAC is s...
For the same $, should I go integrated or power?
Which DAC do you have? Not all volume controls are created equally. Some cut bits and some don't. If you're DAC has a volume control, you may be able to get away with running it straight to an amp, but check the impedance specs on the equipment.
Cart Before the Horse: Signal Path Help Please
I've never been wild about having to leave a computer on to listen to music. Still, some guys have been getting good results, so I looked into putting together a computer with a touch screen that would be dedicated to playing music. The costs were...
Looking for a Nice Simple Good Sounding Preamp...
The Luminous Audio Axiom appears to be a nice little piece of gear.
Audio Research LS7 and LS8 question
For what it's worth, and according to Home Theatre Review, the LS8 has a detent free volume control.I have spent some time with an LS7, but really can't remember if the volume control was detented or not.
Nad M25 and what preamp
What luster is it that you think the M15 is lacking?
Better sounding after 1 hour
I'll agree with the warm up period. I've taken to turning my equipment on when I get home for when I listen to music later in the evening.
A question about power supplies
I haven't gotten around to trying it out yet. It really hasn't been a high priority on my list of things to do, because several sources have said that upgrading the power supply on a Touch makes no difference.Still, I'm going to try it the next ti...
Digital cable...
I was under the impression that a 1.5 meter cable length was optimal for a digital cable.http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ddgtl&1237611683&openfrom&1&4#1
