Use of subwoofer with bookshelf speakers
For music, the Rythmik sealed subs look really interesting. Due to furnishings, I've been limited to small speakers for a while. Over the course of the last year or so, I've run System Audio 505s, Paradigm Studio 10s and am now running a very smal...
Does The Squeezebox Touch Have a Worthy Successor?
I really don't think that you'll find anything close for the $300 price tag.I have both the Sonos and the Squeezebox. I started with the Sonos and loved it, but then I got it into my head that I wanted to get into hi res. The Sonos tops out at 16/...

Perhaps you could also look into Silverline and System Audio.
Pairing problem with amp/speakers???
Which XPA amp do you have? The XPA amps shown on Emotiva's website now are rated down to 4 ohms. I don't know why Marakanetz has such a problem with Emotiva gear, but I've found what I've seen to be good bang for the buck stuff. Are you sure that y...
amp for Silverline minuet supreme plus?
Since my last post, I got my Minuets in. I showed them to my cousin and he wanted to try them out. He's running some sort of Yamaha gear and after having heard his system, I'll reiterate, the Minuets can sound bright, with some material. In my syst...
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer?
Liquid Smooth, since you have both of the speakers in your possession, you're the best person to answer your question.Being as ignorant as I am with regard to the hows and whys of audio, I really can't pin point particular qualities in equipment. S...

Geoffkait, yeah, I thought that too. On the other hand, the converse could be true too. If I happened to have a line on the three hole version as a retailer, I might imply that there is a difference between the two and three hole versions too.That...
Use of subwoofer with bookshelf speakers
I'm really not familiar with Vandersteen subs, but it does seem odd that they would recommend their use only with speakers that are just about full range. 40hz is pretty low and in the borderline territory of not needing a sub at all or just occas...
Neutral or warm? Which do you prefer?
Mind you, I'm not an audiophile. I just like to listen to music and enjoy it more when it sounds good. I prefer speakers to be more neutral so that I can hear the music as it was intended. To me, the term "warm" infers that edges have been rounded ...
DAC for entry level system
Take a look at the ODAC sold at JDS Labs. There are a number of reviews on it, especially in the headphone forums. For the hefty price of $150 you won't be disappointed.Unless I'm mistaken, the ODAC is a USB DAC only.
How do you determine how much to spend on speakers
All of this stuff is, at times, mind numbing. First let me say that I am not an audiophile. I can't afford to be. I have too many money pitts that I'm throwing money into to even consider a system costing $10K or more.I am of the obsessive/anal so...
Need tube help with tube buffer 6SN7 tubes
Geoffkait, yeah, I saw those for $120 a pair and Audiotubes.com has 'em for $80 and $99 a matched pair.I did confirm that it was on Audiotubes.com's site where I read that there is no sonic difference between the two and three hole tubes. In any ca...

Brf, are you sure about that? I did some reading up (which is all that I can do) and at least one source (audiotubes.com I believe) say that there is no difference in sound quality.

Jmcgrogan2, what you said is the reason why I'm asking about less expensive tubes. I'm pretty sure that any changes brought about by the tubes would be subtle.Geoffkait, I don't know what to tell you. I've found at least a couple of vendors that h...

Jmcgrogan, am I to understand that the Philips that I have are similar to the Sylvanias that you have and like?Geoffkait, I assure you that I do not jest....and don't call me Shirley.Ok, seriously, I take it that the Bad Boys are indeed good and w...
