A great, great talk by Robbie Robertson on all things The Band.
@bdp24  Great explanation of the financial workings of The Band.  I've read a lot of Robbie vs Levon posts and haven't read a better explanation of the issues. What do you think of the remixed versions of the Band's catalog?
Jesse Colin Young has passed away.
Sad news.  He made some great music.

@bdp24 Nice talk With Robbie. He always sounds intelligent and honest to me. I know some of Levon’s followers don’t think so, but what can you do? Here’s a video of Robbie talking about his relationship with Levon: Robbie Robertson Talks About ...
12AX7 tubes for the phono stage of VAC Avatar SE integrated.
The Amperex will sound different from the Mullard and RCA tubes, but I can't say if they're what you're looking for.

Amperex are noted for their midrange. The ones made in the Heerlen, The Netherlands factory are what you might want. They can come with different labels, mostly Phillips, but also others. There was also an Amperex factory in New Jersey. Good tube...
Qobuz and Chandos
Qobuz sent me a message  a couple of weeks ago that the links to some albums in people's Favorites had disappeared, but not to worry they'd have it fixed within 72 hours.  I still have some Favorites that say "Album Not Found" when I try to open t...
Has anyone heard Esoteric K-01XS and K-01XD - or Grandioso K1X
I haven't been able to compare those players but here's a thread where there was some discussion of the sound quality of a couple of those players. Audiogon Discussion Forum

@artistx  Nice review site.  Thanks!
Class A bias, speaker sensitivity, watts...?
@richardbrand I found an explanation for, or at least support for, the idea that Class A watts halve as speaker impedance halves. It’s from the December 2023 Stereophile review of the Accuphase A-300 amp. Her’s the link and the relevant quote: ...
12au7 tube?
Brent Jessee has the Phillips factory codes and how to read them on his site here: Mullard, Philips, and Valvo Tube Codes Phillips owned many of the popular NOS tube manufacturers. Brent says one thing I disagree with, though. That is that you o...
Here's a really, really great video on Richard Manuel (and oh yeah, The Band).
It’s definitely a crazy world and a shame that drugs are such an integral part of the music business. I’m glad that you (and a lot of other people) managed to not fall into the trap. I think it was Charlie Musselwhite who had a similar experience...
Class A bias, speaker sensitivity, watts...?
@richardbrand There is only one number given for Class A watts that I’ve seen, which is why it stuck with me when the guy said they dropped into 4 ohms. It’s nothing to spend your time on, If someone who knows for sure comes across this thread m...
Class A bias, speaker sensitivity, watts...?
@richardbrand Yes it would be interesting to hear from some high bias Class A/B amp builders whether their amps switch over to Class B power sooner as speaker impedance drops. Maybe I just misunderstood.

The problem with heroin (now fentanyl) is that it’s such a good high that once you try it, it makes you want to dabble in it. Dabbling becomes addiction before you know it. Rick Danko remained addicted to the end of his life.
Class A bias, speaker sensitivity, watts...?
@richardbrand Yes, I agree with what you’re saying.  I was trying to address a different matter. I was told by an amp manufacturer whom I called (don’t remember which one) that the class A watts are specified at 8 ohms and would approximately h...
