Why aren't the older members still active ? They got tired of people who were just trying to start arguments posting all the time?
An interesting Digital vs. Analog experience I think that digital, including cd, is just beginning to acheive its potential. I think that we will continue to hear significant improvements in digital sound for some time to come.
An interesting Digital vs. Analog experience Now you've done it Mceljo. You know it is politically incorrect to say that digital can sound better than vinyl. Off to the audiophile reeducation camp for you!
Are Disc Players Dead? Here are some figures for cd and lp sales and shipments for 2010:According to Nielsen SoundScan, in 2010:235 million cds were sold (approximately)*2.8 million lps were sold*cds were not broken out separately, thus the approximation.According to th...
Are Disc Players Dead? Timrhu, Macdad is a BIG vinyl fan. I have read many of his posts on the subject. So, knowing that he considers vinyl to be alive, I tried to answer his question about digital discs from that perspective. That is why I referred to vinyl. I have not...
A Walk in The COUNTRY Tom Russell. His early work with the Tom Russell Band is my favorite era but he continues to put out excellent cds.Jerry Jeff Walker. I'd recommend only his early work, up through "Ridin' High".I don't know if either sound like Jamey Johnson, thou...
Are Disc Players Dead? Cds still outsell vinyl by about 200 to 1 so I think if you consider vinyl to be alive you would also consider cd to be alive and well.
Any experience w/ Conrad Johnson MET150 5ch amp? I think it is a multichannel version of the ET250S amp. The ET 250S is a current Stereophile class A amp. I agree Spearit Sound would be the people to talk to about it.

Audio Fidelity Gold CDs I have "A Space In Time" by Ten Years After. It sounds great, if slightly psychedelic classic rock suits your tastes.
moding and the inexperienced Many people swear by mods but they are not for those just starting out.I think the best way to get started is find a pair of speakers you like then get an amp that works well with them. Likewise for your source components (cd player, server, turnt...
Is no preamp the best preamp of all? If your current system sounds better without a preamp then that's the way you should listen to it. If you find a preamp that makes your system sound better, use it. There are plenty of people who don't use a preamp and plenty who prefer having a p...
Need advice on CJ preamps One more thing. The 16 and 17ls (I and II) make a clicking sound when the volume is changed. Some people find this annoying and don't like these preamps for that reason. Apparently the people at c-j felt that the sound quality that this volume mec...
Need advice on CJ preamps You want to go with the 17ls II. The series II version has the teflon capacitors which many people feel are an improvement over the 17ls. I haven't compared the two.You should be able to get one in the $2400 - $3000 range, I'd guess. It uses 4 6922...
