Doge 8 and Conrad Johnson ET-3 Requests for comparisons between 2 specific pieces of less popular gear often do not get much response. Since you have heard the c-j, try asking for opinions on the Doge 8 and you may get some info that will help you make your decision.
Do your speakers have enough "freshness" Stereophile has an audiophile glossary here:http://www.stereophile.com/content/sounds-audio-glossary-glossaryMaybe you can find the words to describe what you mean there.
Harbeth hl5 vs Dali Euphonia SM4 I own Dali Helicon 400s and they have no problem placing instruments on a soundstage. They are not the most detailed speakers around but I prefer them to more detailed speakers I've owned like Audio Physics. They're more musical.SACDS and DVD-As s...

The ET3 is based on the newer GAT circuit and uses 1 6922 tube.I haven't heard either and I think you would have to listen to them to determine which you prefer. c-j amps seem to be gettin...
Any hope for SACD? It depends on how well they sell. If Analogue Productions and MoFi make good money from their SACD efforts we'll see more of them. I don't see why they can't crank them out like they do in Japan. There has to be some DSD equipment sitting around u...

CD player to compete with my vinyl rig? Your system is probably set up to sound its best playing vinyl. It may take more than popping a cd player in to get digital sound that is satisfying to you. Some cd players that many people find musical are:Oppo BDP-95Sony XA5400ESMarantz 8004These...
best sound for a classical and jazz cd Ray Brown, Monty Alexander, Russell Malone (that's the title) on Telarc. SACD or CD. They both have great sound. I'll let you guess which sounds better.

dts 5.1 fold down to stereo better than cd? Thanks Theo. Kal, It is one of those that have the dts logo and 5.1 Music Disc in red across the top, front and back. The label according to Amazon is Digital Sound but is has a Capitol logo on the back. Amazon calls it a DVD-A but I don't see the...
Earl Scruggs dies at 88 Earl was a musical giant and a humble man. His contributions to country music will never be forgotten.
Digital Emperor has no clothes Of course 16/44.1 sounds better than 24/192. And Mp3 sounds better than 16/44.1. Everyone knows that.
Oppo 95: Burn-in...and Fan Minus, Many people think that it is the owner's perception that breaks in over the first 100 or 500 hours. That's possible in your world, isn't it? You'll only find frustration if you try to apply physics to human perception and behavior.
Audiophile grade country Anyone who listens to country music should listen to Emmylou Harris. She's not old school honky tonk but she is definitely country and not country-pop or whatever it's called. Her early albums were remastered by Rhino Records and all her work has g... |
