Best CD Sleeve
Some people like Tyvek sleeves. If I buy a digipak (cardboard sleeve) cd I generally put the cd in a slimline case and the packaging in a polyethylene sleeve (no flap). It takes up about the same shelf space as a jewel case.
"Audiogon" Music Reviews at last
The link works fine and the recording philosophy is beautiful, as are the songs by Carmen Gomes and the Paul Berner Band that I listened to.As you know we Americans (in general) aren't very good at other languages or changing money. Can we use our...
Oppo 93/103 or 95/105 with anthem d2v
Based on the cost/quality of your other components, I would spend the extra money for the 105. You seem to have posted this to the wrong forum. You'll probably get a better response on the Digital forum.
Fremer's review of the Anna cartridge
If I were sending a cartridge to Michael Fremer for review I would have it triple checked by the guy who designed it, the guy who makes it, and the head quality control guy. I would make sure it was burned in and listened to by the best ears in th...
Explain Streaming Audio Services
I am not knowledgeable in this area but I'll see if I can get this started.I believe your Magnum Dynalab is a streaming device. If you bought a wireless router, you could stream music to your MD, your iphone and any other WiFi enabled devices you ...
What's your view on blind testing?
We're doing it again. Letting perfection become the enemy of good. If we can't have perfection we will have nothing and good will not be done. There is no reason to try to set up a perfect double blind test. How about having someone outside of Ster...
What's your view on blind testing?
The "of" after the word "differences" in the first line of my post above should read "or."
What's your view on blind testing?
It can take weeks of listening to tease out subtle differences of even relatively significant differences between components. However, if someone writes that their jaw dropped when component or wire or tweak X was inserted into their system, that p...
PS audio PWD MK2 a real upgrade from MKI?
Hi Vhiner, I admit that my ears are not the most sensitive and I do not get to listen to a lot of different gear. Maybe I should have explained that in my post.So if the OP is good at hearing differences he should take your advice. If he sometimes...
PS audio PWD MK2 a real upgrade from MKI?
In my opinion the Mk II is a definite upgrade. However, it is not a night and day difference. If money is tight and you enjoy the Mk I, I'd save the money and wait and see what PS Audio comes up with for a music server, if they ever do.
Anyone own or listened to this cd?
I hope you like it, Timrhu. Let us know what you think about it if you get the chance.
High End In China: Visiting This Summer
There is an article written by Robert Harley in TAS that you can find with a search on their website, it's titled, "The World's Number One Audiophile?".It's about a Chinese gentleman in the city of Yang Jiang who undoubtedly is number one. The art...
Anyone own or listened to this cd?
You might like "Bleecker Street: Greenwich Village In The 60's"It's classic folk songs from the 60s interpreted by younger folk influenced artists. Marshall Crenshaw does a killer electric "My Back Pages" and there are several other exceptional co...
Conrad Johnson with Gallo Reference 3.1s
I'm not familiar with the Gallos but I owned the c-j CA200. I would not describe it as warm. It did have a very nice sound though. I would describe it as "sweet" (that's not an official audiophile term). I think that resulted from very good high f...
Easy biasing Tube amps
PrimaLuna are autobiasing. You don't have to do anything at all except plug the tubes in. This also allows you to use a variety of tube types (EL34, KT88, etc.) in the same amp.
