Vandersteens, PSB or something else?
+1 audiotroyI am a dedicated Vandy guy, and I agree 100% that Vandies are not the choice for HT. Love Maggies too, but they're not meant for HT either.Horns, cones, sensitivity, efficiency, durability for HT, IMO.Now, for listening to 2-ch music  ...

FWIW, I've gotten the best sound from my 2Cs with these dimensions:(All measurements from tweeters)Distance from front wall-12.5"Distance from left wall-30"Distance from right wall-40"Distance between speakers-84"Distance to ears, (measured perpen...

As you move them closer to the front wall, try unequal distances from the side walls (the centerline of your listening position will not be in the center of the room) by a few inches. This asymmetry will help even out problem bass modes.Tom

You are very welcome. Be patient. Keep us posted...PS- call John Rutan (Audio Connections)  @ (973) 809-4467. He is extremely helpful. He was the one who suggested I get mine a foot or  less from the front wall. Tom

The contour controls on the back of my 2Cs are for cut/boost of mid and treble only. No affect on the bass as far as I can tell. The only thing that restored bass in my situation was positioning the speakers differently.Tom

+1 tomic601. I had to position my 2Cs 9.5" from front wall to back of speakers, measured at the floor, with tilt-back the tops are 8.25" from front wall. No toe-in. Acoustic treatment on all walls plus ceiling restored soundstage depth and width. ...

+1 for kalali.I still have the Silver 8s (in another system), but got Vandy 2Cs for my main system. Completely different sound. The 8s are analytical, somewhat aggressive, very clean, play very loudly, bright treble. Compared to the Vandys, they do...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect!
@hifiman5 ,That is almost always the case, but my room is irregular, with a large alcove on one wall, and large walk-in closets with bi-fold doors from corner-to-corner on the opposite wall. Hardwood floors with a rug covering most of the floor. B...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect!
@hifiman5 , I am fortunate to have a dedicated listening room with acoustic treatment on all walls including ceiling. The perceived soundstage is actually deeper and bigger now than it was when the speakers were further from the front wall but wit...
Speaker Placement - When it's perfect!
@audionoobie,Interesting. I'm also using 2Cs, (though not the Sigs), source is Oppo 103, amp is Krell s300i. After countless hours, I finally got the most cohesive sound with the speakers 7 feet apart, no toe-in, and 16 inches from the front wall,...
