I'm using an Oppo 103 with a Krell integrated, Anticables, and Vandy 2Cs.Room treatment on front wall, side walls, back wall.Several hours determining best speaker and listening seat positions.I only listen to CDs.Dedicated room, dedicated AC line...
Please Critique my Setup and Recommend Upgrade(s)
"I'm kind of blown away to see so many setups with uber-expensive gear and zero acoustic treatment"Excellent point, so very true. Amazing isn't it? So much $ spent on gear, little-to-nothing on room treatment.I'm equally guilty. Been in this hobby...
Bi-wires links for speakers ?
Wires, Wires, Wires!Something so small that creates such a conundrum...Reading Stereophile back when Sam Tellig was still on staff. He made the (obviously jokingly) remark about speaker wires:"Look inside your speakers and use the same wire. If it'...

Planar speaker placement
Jim Smith has an excellent book titled "Get Better Sound". He also is very familiar with Maggies and has an entire chapter devoted to planars.Invaluable aid for setting up a system to "play the room".Best $ you'll ever spend in this hobby...Tom

@thiefoflight , @erik_squires Absolutely agree, no amount of $$$ spent on gear can overcome/compensate for poor setup and room treatment. Before spending even more money on another piece of equipment, get your current system to "play the room", and...

How often is your system "good"?
My system sounds best:Early Saturday mornings. After 20 mins of warm-up.Playing a class A sound quality album. With no one else in the room.Even with a dedicated line, still sounds better with no washer/dryer/dishwasher/timers/fluorescent lights/blo...
For a quick good time, blankets...
Yes, the coffee table!I got rid of mine, and it helped, a lot. But, mine is a dedicated room. Easy to ditch something pretty when WAF doesn't come into play...Tom
Absolute Sound - do we really need another review like this?
Valid points about TAS and Stereophile. I too remember when 'phile was a small book in the 80s, from Santa Fe if I remember correctly.I also subscribe to both and agree that the reviews of uber-priced gear gets tiring. I much prefer reviews of gea...
The Blankets Were Good, But...
Great ideas, everyone! Will post when I figure things out...Thanks so much,Tom
For a quick good time, blankets...
