+2 for 'phones, and I hate them!But if I had to live in an apartment, that's all I would use.

I think Herb Reichert (of Stereophile) liked a MM cart that only costs $35! Sorry, forget the brand and model, but it should be easy to find. I think it was reviewed in 2016, maybe 2017...

Nice gear! Gorgeous antique buffet cabinet!Now move that cabinet away from those speakers!!!Ideally it would be on one of the side walls.Do room treatment if you can.You will be amazed how much better your expensive system will sound when it's set...

Flooring advice on basement listening room.
My dedicated room is engineered wood floor, large heavy area rug covering 70% of floor, acoustic panels from Primacoustic. Sounds wonderful. 
Sister's wants music system without the hassles!
Agree with others here, vinyl done right is not simple! Digital would meet her needs much better.

Integrated or Receiver?
+1 for an NAD receiver. I'm still using a 40 YO one in a fourth system. Paid $50.00 on ebay. Had it 10 years now. Still going strong. Powered up 24/7. I'm not sure if my Krell will last that long...

OK, read the apartment dweller part. You get a pass on the dedicated line. But the rest is mandatory....if you want the best sound.

Listen to the music. Don't turn the TV on. Better yet, don't have a TV in the same room as the stereo. Better yet, have a dedicated listening room with acoustic treatment and a dedicated AC line and actually hear for the first time what your expen...
