Help with integrated amp purchase
Here's a good explanation of the upgrade genII with link to review of genI of the eVo2i. It's a pretty comprehensive review.
Budget reference floorstanders for a b.r. system
Vandersteen 1Cs in that price range. Half your budget if you go for a used pair.

You might also consider the Bel Canto eVo2i. I have owned several integrated amps in your price range and the Bel Canto is a winner for me. Not sure how it will mate with the B&Ws but it worked exceptionally well with my Proac Response 1.5s. I...
Single driver speakers - opinions
If you haven't done so already I suggest checking audiocircle. Single driver speakers are discussed regularly by many devotees over there.
Any new ideas on an old theme?
I just placed a buy it now on ebay for two pieces of granite, 12x12x1.25 in. I'll be sticking them under my speakers and probably use blu tac between speakers and stone. Will get back on the results.
fuses - the $39 ones or the 85 cent ones
Thanks Dave, a project for this weekend.

Dave_b, what do you mean when you say you elevated your sub? Did you place them on a pedestal/slab? If so what was the result. I'm considering placing mine on a pedestal to get it decoupled from the floor.

I had T Rex "Electric Warrior" on 8-track. Unbelievable how many times that one looped.

The other day I checked at a granite seller to ask about soap stone. They will sell it for $58 sq ft. For my speakers I need 2 pieces 12x10 in. Like you Blindjim, I'm not sure about spending $120 for an experiment. I will look at slate this week. ...

Rodman, I caught the part that it was only important to YOU. Just looking for some logic behind the concept. You may say listening to and feeling music is not logical and I would agree. But the reproduction of music through electronic media is ent...

As far as DBT: What knowledge do have that either of the persons involved have any experience with live music, or any experience/training with regards to critical listening?Rodman, the DBT was in reference to how fuses affect an amp's sonics. Ple...

Agree 100% with the DIY first. But this guy seems reasonable compared to Mapleshade. Also, searching speaker spikes on ebay can get you some pretty inexpensive but very nice spikes. I haven't tried the platforms yet but am seriously considering Ti...
inserting new component--predictable results?
My experience is similar to eweed's but without the shoe throwing incident. My solution was also different as I did not go the tube route. My current set up is not as revealing as some previous systems, not as much sparkle on tip, but I can spend h...

Well I do prefer Coke to Pepsi. Remember the Pepsi challenge from years ago? Even though I have always preferred Coke when I took the challenge I thought the Pepsi was better. Kind of like listening to a set of super detailed speakers recommended ...

My audio philosophy in a nut shell. Components sound different. Room treatments are the most significant tweak. Beauty is in the ear of the beholder. We don't all have the same level of audio awareness. Audio DBT does not prove audible differences...
