Class D amplifier with TPA 3250 board
I have built several Class D amplifiers.  I used a TPA3255 by 3e audio.  I switched out a few key caps on the board. I used a 12 amp switching supply and added 120,000 mfd for the supply.  I engaged the PFFB circuit which makes the frequency respo...
Can anyone recommend someone who recap crossovers
I can do it for you....
Getting good sound quality below 200Hz
A few things.... In general, listening to 150 to 250 hz alone sounds like mud. You are listening to the highest bass regions or more arguably the lowest midrange frequencies. Thanks to @pedroeb for posting a link to the driver. This driver has a Q...
Congratulations Atmasphere!
Just reading this revived thread.  Makes me miss AL.... @atmasphere    Ralph, you guys were a good team of sorts.  Al always had your back and really had my back too.  Miss my friend.
A preamp recommendation

What difference do power cables make?
I cut the power cord off of a Huge old deep freezer. It was around 6 gauge. Ordered some good looking  Nice quality plugs from China...... I could hear it quickly.  To be fair, the improvement was subtle, yet noticeable if You had a ear that w...
timlub (Tim Hector)
Thank you Bill. I truly appreciate your kind words.  Enjoy these old beauties. I've pulled off of Agon for awhile.  You made me remember why I was here in the first place. Thank you again, Tim

Speaker impedance patterns - how to read them?
Here you go op,  this should help.  Normally when I am building a speaker.  In design phase, I keep the crossovers external with the drivers in the box, this helps give me very accurate impedance and phase all along the design process.  This perso...
Speaker impedance patterns - how to read them?
@erik_squires Actually Erik,  no, I am not mixing up a driver vs a finished system.  I didn't say ALL speakers rise with frequency, Many drivers have a fairly smooth curve.   Here is a simple 2 way,  they show driver impedance as well as system im...
Speaker impedance patterns - how to read them?
@perkri   Your example of the ESL is an Electrostatic speaker. The op is trying to learn how to read impedance chart of a loud speaker.  Duke did give an excellent representation of how a solid state amp reacts to a speaker load vs a tubed amp. Wh...
Speaker impedance patterns - how to read them?
Actually Eric,  it is absolutely true.  You provided one driver.  I've measured hundreds of impedance curves not a couple.  Yes,  I used a woofer as an example, but this happens in many mids, tweeters etc and their individual impedance curves do s...
Will sun exposure damage my speakers?
Get yourself some liquid latex.  Foam surrounds that are failing absorb it like a sponge.  A few coats works wonders and adds years to the drivers.
Speaker impedance patterns - how to read them?
So here you go: Most conventional cone speakers have a rising impedance as frequency goes up. What most speaker designers should do that do not want to impedance compensate their designs is rate the impedance based upon the operating range of the ...
DAC That Punches Above Its Price Point
I've owned more budget DAC's than you can count.  Also built a couple from diyinhk.com..... For me without a doubt the SMSL SU9 is the best sounding thing that has hit my system under 1k.  Beware,  I had to send it to SMSL to get a firmware update...
