A Question About Time Alignment @kenjit Nope
A Question About Time Alignment Hello Everyone, Since Kenjit mentioned me, I thought that I'd clarify his comments: I often get a pm from others asking for help and EVERYTIME until Kenji I have helped others. Kenji contacted me asking for help with his speaker design. While ...
A Question About Time Alignment I have read through this thread over the past few days and have purposely stayed out. There are some reasonable explanations in this thread and others that don't show a real understanding of time & phase..... I will try to provide an accurate...
What might a good to great 20uF film/foil capacitor for a woofer. from my experience, bang for the buck, I would go for Clarity CSA. If those are too high, I personally would stick with Solen PPE. I've listened to a bunch of budget friendly caps, they are more neutral than most and don't do any nasties that o...
Concentric drivers For most speakers today, doppler is not a real problem. It does exist and can be measured. It would most accurately be described as FREQUENCY Intermodulation distortion. When drivers are used and ran over a very large frequency the drivers mov...
Ampzilla 2000 v2 and Mcintosh MC402 I do understand your Mac passion, but the SST Ambrosia is an outstanding preamplifier. It was just a suggestion, no harm, no foul.
What are songs where people or instruments sound closer to you? Erin Bode Singing "These Days" Cello is in the right rear, behind the right speaker. Erin is up front, in front of the speakers a bit off center, classical guitar comes in from someone sitting on a stool, just to the right and behind Erin, Uprig...
Looking for good recordings of female vocals I have not yet tried... Mindy Smith: One Moment More..... Surprisingly good recording and good music to boot Eva Cassidy: Live at Blues Alley..... Clean recording, can get a bit hot on a few spots, but overall, very good. Erin Bode: Don't Take Your Time, Over and Ov...
Speaker Crossover Capacitor Values @jim94025 I just wanted to reiterate again what I posted. Its hard to know who to listen to or not. I've been building..... building speakers for 45 years and also remember, I said "except in correction circuits" The benefits of replacing ele...
Speaker Crossover Capacitor Values Anywhere you put a decent polypropylene cap, it will be better than a good electrolytic, period. In old speakers the argument of esr is normally not as valid except maybe in some correction circuits. The old drivers and crossover parts have all dr...
why rms is good indication for best driver? Resonance and moving mass as you quote definitely affect mechanical Q as you have quoted. Not sure what you are trying to find out or infer? If there is enough interest, i may do a thread on DIY speaker building.
What does Q mean in speaker specifications? QTC is a function of the woofer completed in the box and really designed for a sealed box. A driver in itself has a QMS/QES = QTS and yes, you would be able to measure these on a horn driver.
What does Q mean in speaker specifications? QMS, QES, QTS, QTC QMS tells us how well a speaker is damped in the mechanical realm or suspension QES tells us how well a speaker is controlled through its electro-mechanical side, magnet & voice coil QTS is a summary of the 2 combined.......
Class D amplifier with TPA 3250 board I'm not really sure what is trying to be accomplished here. I can comment that I have built no less than a dozen class d amps from modules. TA2024, TA2020, TA2022, Tk2050 TAS5613, TAS5630, TDA7498, TPA3255, IRS2092, a couple different Sure/Wondo...
Softest, smoothest sounding capacitors you've tried? Of course, nothing is cast in stone, but in general, you are describing paper & oil caps |
