Well, I know you guys are looking to Roy, but to add just a bit to what he said... The idea of z-compensation is to control rising impedances. You can add resistance to tweeters to make higher impedances with some success as long as you figure the...

this is not a "Hales tweeter"... made by Vifa D26-38-04... Thiel used it a bit also...
Hales transcendence 8 tweeters
Ejvic, I was able to look up the Seas T29MF001 shown as recommended by Madisound above... It was a 92db 4 ohm sensitivity tweeter. Selling now for about $250 U.S. If Madisound is correct, that means that your Hales have a tweeter pad (tweeter volu...

Ejvic, This can be reverse engineered and a decent dome can definitely be found. I would need to see the crossover. I've done some looking for you... this is a guessing game. Hales are 88db 4 ohm speakers, I cannot find a spec sheet on its origina...

Sorry, don't know what I was thinking, the resistor would be putting a 6 ohm in place of an 8 ohm, not a 6 ohm in place of a 4 ohm, please disregard my last post, I'll research and see what I can find about the original D26 tweeter. Tim

I believe that the original D26 series tweeter was 4 ohm... Try to verify that... If it is, put a 2 ohm resistor in series (positive lead) with the tweeter. This will do 2 things: help to bring the crossover frequency back to its original design a...
Bose 901 series VI & Yamaha A-S2000
We used to pay a bit under 8 bucks for a pretty good replacement part. There is also a molded cabinet inside, the real magic of 901's is in the eq... and no, we never did any hard core mods... latex coating drivers, but thats all that I recall. I ...
Bose 901 series VI & Yamaha A-S2000
Hi guys, I've sat in front of 901's in a variety of settings... In the right room... (boundaries are important) with good equipment on them, they can be satisfying. My real complaint no matter what, I've never heard great imaging... they will prod...

"So the question then becomes: Doesn't the presence of that inductive component of the driver impedance (especially in the case of the tweeter) cause a deviation from first order 6 db/octave behavior? And if so, to a degree that may audibly compro...
Sloped baffle
Hi Psag, What you are quoting makes absolute sense... If you pull the crossovers and make everything perfectly phase and time aligned along with perfect frequency response, then the only difference is sound between speakers is the materials themse...

I have never heard Roy's speakers, but I would love to, I've never seen any speaker that was plus or minus just a few degrees throughout its frequency range... It would probably be easier to read a book than try to get all the info from a forum, s...

"I still wonder out loud whether speaker inductance as a function of frequency response in fact remains constant within the speaker's pass band. Indeed ... even if speaker inductance remains constant as a function of frequency, wouldn't that also ...

Bombaywalla, sounds_real_audio didn't ask if the were on a sloped front or a flat front, He simply asked, If they leave the source at the same time, would they end up at the listener at the same time... I believe his real question is "do all frequ...
Sloped baffle
"If an 18kHz sound left its' source and a 30Hz sound wave left its source at the same time. would they both get to the listener at the same time?"Yep, its not the speed of frequency, its the speed of sound. All frequencies travel at around 1000 ft...
