@rlb61     after all of this, I'm sure that you'll decide not to recap, but as we have all state, not really needed at this point.
Advice Needed On Recapping Power Amp
Kijanki,    I've never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed, but as said above, I've done this many times. I have only had positive results.  How do propose that you get parasitic inductance introduced in a properly designed power supply?  ...
Adcom GFA 555 amp upgrades
If you are truly a fan of what Nelson did with Adcom,  the 5802 is by far the best sounding Adcom amp.... Keeps that Adcom flavor, but more refined.
Advice Needed On Recapping Power Amp
Hi   @kosst_amojan    ....  Well, I guess that really depends quite a bit about your transformer first. My knowledge is limited about "Inrush" current.  To those reading these comments.. In-rush current is the current flow into a product when you ...
most advanced speaker in a rectangular wooden box?
The key word is "Advanced"  Not a lot of truly new technologies...  Look at passive crossovers... Off the top of my head, I can think of maybe  8 types of slope technologies besides the amount of slope applied,  yet today, there are mainly 3 types...
Advice Needed On Recapping Power Amp
I agree that it is very unlikely that you actually need caps replaced at this point, but if you are after a modification that would help. I can see that. I have replaced power supply caps on a few amps with very good results.  4 things that you ne...
Douk Audio. Any experience with any of their products?
@englebertAlbert,  In "My Ebay"  go to "Purchased" on this transaction,  look to the right side, where it says "Leave Feedback", click the drop down and choose "Return this Item".... Tell them the item "Is not as Described"  request a refund... Do...
High Quality Fuses in Amps
I posted these in a different thread also.... ridiculously in expensive,  sound pretty good.  Worth a try if you haven't done anything. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aucharm-Hi-Fi-6-32mm-Audio-Silver-Alloy-Gold-plated-cap-fuse-Slow-blow-0-5A...
Infinity Kappa 9 Rebuild?
I can help you with most questions that you might have about a re build. Not volunteering at this point, but I've been an avid speaker builder for 35 years and have looked kappa 9's over many times and understand them well.
Should I eliminate my preamp?
You need to listen to it both ways. I have a DIY model that has bit perfect volume built in. Meaning I should be able to use the volume on my laptop and the dac continues to produce bit perfect sound to my amp. I have driven my amp with this dac a...
Just confused about where to start
Overall, no it isn't a problem to buy used speakers... You might want to ask questions first.  If the speakers have been driven very hard for years, their suspensions could be weak.  I'd personally want them to be under 7 or 8 years old without ab...
Just confused about where to start
When I first read your post, I thought "oh my, he is going to get soooo many ideas that it'll be very difficult to sort through to come up with a good solution".... with that, even though I have a few different ideas than posted, the solution that...
Would you change your amp selection knowing...?
I have several sets of cables at home, my favorite are high count twisted litz. These cables definitely qualify as high capacitance. This capacitance problem is also effected by the speaker crossover itself that is attached to the cable.  So depen...
What does moving from a 150 watt amp to a 400 watt amp get you?
Well, I agree with most of what has been said.  Normally the advantage of adding power, isn't necessarily adding power itself, but having the power supply with larger current capability. Power supplies don't have to be regulated, but a good regula...
First Tube Amp
I have owned 2 Yaqin amps, both were integrated,  both were well made and sounded quite good.  If I wanted to go back to tubes, I wouldn't hesitate to try them again. I also really like the idea of a key few parts changes to make a nice difference...
