power Many auto amps are made for competition.... In the competition world, they have power classes. Those classes are normally based on how much total power you have in your vehicle based on a 4 ohm power ratings on your amplifier. However, many of ...
Folded tweeters vs. dome? I have an original pair of ESS Heil drivers that I plan on building with. When I finally get one of those "round tuits" I'll report. I'm actually pulling a Fountek ribbon this week and replacing with a silk dome on a different speaker.
Does anyone leave their amp and preamp on all the time? I have already commented on my solid state gear. (I don't turn it off) I I now have all SS gear, but Tubes in the past, I did turn off after each use, I did try to give them 30 minutes to 2 hours warm up before use.
Does anyone leave their amp and preamp on all the time? No problem leaving Solid State gear on, yes, class A gets hot and can raise the electric bill a bit. I agree, it sounds better leaving it on. In fact, even though a cold amp sounds better after 45 minutes, I contend that it can take weeks on s...
Why Aren't More Speaker Designers Building Augmented Widebanders? I don't remember it all perfectly, but I recall that the 3 inch or the 4 inch Tang Bands either one needed to be crossed around 200 on bottom and their maximum usable frequency to keep within very tight tolerances was about 5k.... again on either...
Best sounding compact integrated amp < $2k? Sorry, Everest_audio is correct. The Parasound is 16 inches deep and the Belles is 14 inches deep

But, I have played with this 3 inch Tang Band and it is very good indeed. I agree completely with Erik abou...
Best sounding compact integrated amp < $2k? A lot of great choices here and honestly, they are all decent or better.... for my money, if you can get a Parasound new for $2000 or less, Its a great grab that depending on taste.... plus has a decent dac. But the Belles is just a slight tough...
Well now... 400$ Mark Levinson amp new... Sorry, band stand is circuit boards.... I'm out of town, auto correct on phone
Well now... 400$ Mark Levinson amp new... My understanding is that they copied the original board design and the only changes made was to make the bandstand on end to make this layout in the small case. As far as the Dartzeel, I looked very hard at these clones and almost pulled the trig...
Who makes the best "Coaxial" Tweeter/Midrange design? @bondmanp I changed the crossover a bit (changed slope, all polyprop caps, better coil), added zcomp, added felt to the tweeter ring and stiffened the cabinet.... You would fall over with the difference!
Y No YG ? Kenny, you got another one removed? You know on the stripper one, it was really good. I didn't think that you'd get away adding the wire stripping.
Schiit not that Good? I think it is natural for all of us to compare systems, even in different rooms. What I find odd is to make hard comparisons between two radically different priced products. If you can, you need to be calling the inexpensive product... Product of... |
