Quad 99CDP digital in for DVD?
I'd first find out the digital output resolution of your DVD player and the resolutions that your Quad CDP can accomodate. Most DVD players output a 16/44 signal for CDs, so there probably won't be a problem with the CDP locking onto the digital s...

Elizabeth, I understand the point, but don't you know that the politicians would spend far more than they would collect anyway?

asdf,Your analysis is clearly flawed, to say the least. It is also quite simple to conclude from your statements that you haven't read many scientific papers and that you are probably not acquainted with statistics or the scientific method. Virtua...

Thanks everyone for your interesting posts. Although I do not endulge in the use of illicit substances, I am certainly not prepared to condemn those who might chose to do so in a responsible manner. I understand the sentiment to legalise marijuana...

Sheesh, I just thought that the third paragraph was really ridiculous! I don't smoke anything, but I've certainly read numerous thread in this forum alluding to its' use. I'm glad it is still illegal in Canada and in the U.S.!
What will you be playing to celebrate?
I guess I didn't get to read Viridian's post before it was deleted, but I did not mean to assert that those who disagree with me are insane, at least in the literal, psychotic sense. If anybody saved it, please forward me a copy. Perhaps "reasonab...
What will you be playing to celebrate?
Thanks everyone for your posts. Seems like the majority of Audiogoners are sane, even though there is a contingent that consistently hates the U.S. It's wonderful that we have free speech so that they can freely expose themselves to others.
Who's the Cadillac of Hi-End Audio?
Levinson=Buick. No character or excitement at all! They started at the high end and have been constantly going downhill ever since. Ick!McIntosh=Oldsmobile. Even more boring and now dead!Krell=Cadillac. Over-rated, garish, ugly and built only to i...
What cable caused you to become a cable "junkie" ?
The cheap ones that were included with my old components!
Can Woofers Be Repaired?
I've been out thousands to the vet for repairing my woofer. You're better off with a cat ;)
Speaker suggestions?
I won't make any specific recommendations; you should audition speakers before buying. However, if they must be that close to the wall, do not consider any rear ported models.
Dealing with an unstable, vibrating wood floor...
You won't find ANY type of isolation device that can counteract the magnitude of movement that loose, flexing floorboards can generate. As you have surmised, adding mass to lessen the movement might help, but if your floors are really that poor, y...
Is solid state on the brink of extinction?
Muralman1, your Acoustic Reality amp is solid state! Solid state essentially means that the circuits utilize transistors rather than vacuum tubes. Truly digital amplifiers, not those with just a digitally regulated power supply, amplify the audio ...
