why do so many discussions turn contentious?

Please Suggest Approaches to Perceived System Darkening
The "usual" approaches for lowering noise floor seem to include mechanical isolation, AC power treatment, and room treatments.
Brothers from another Mother ?
@oddiofyl   I recently heard Ken Micallef say that the Forte IV's are a substantial improvement over the III's.  Have you heard the comparison with reflections of your own?  At some point I may want to trade my III's in for IV's - and I will proba...
why do so many discussions turn contentious?
I can't believe I'm reading this thread and watching it devolve into the  very conversation, full of contentiousness, that it was created to highlight -,and perhaps draw inspiration to remedy. As long as we continually search for someone to blame ...

It’s 58 years of collecting LPs. That’s 6,000+ LPs. I have started the process of weeding out 600. If you have any interesting 50s/60s/early70s jazz that you want to purge just reach out ;-)
The value of embellishment?
It's a matter of priority.  Many brands offer faceplate choices, upgraded veneers and finishes, etc.  While many people can rationalize a few hundred dollar upcharge in certain areas I suspect very few would be game for doubling the price of an au...
Tube Amp recommendations to drive Klipsch Forte III
Music Reference RM-10 Mk.2. Now there's an amp I'd love to add to the stable someday!
My Experience With Tekton
So in case folks weren't connecting the dots on my last post,  the takeaway is that using the "magic" of the voltage spec a 4 ohm speaker can claim to have a higher sensitivity than a 8 ohm speaker which is more accurately using the wattage spec....
My Experience With Tekton
@phcollie Good points. The other thing that some folks obviously don't understand is that using Watt's law, only at precisely 8 Ohms does 2.83V = 1W. At 4 Ohms 2.83V = 2W. Speakers are current driven, and amps are spec'd for the wattage they outpu...

@charles1dad   +1  Ralph (@atmasphere) has q cogently made this observation numerous times on this forum. Focusing solely on the stated sensitivity of a speaker is an incomplete view/assessment. You have to also be aware of a speaker’s impedance ...

@kennyc is correct. I really need to refrain from letting MC drag me down to his level - a level that only exists in a vocabulary full of "butt hurt", "rent free", YouTube links, and "whatever". Honestly, what adult talks like that? His actions wi...
Biggest "bang for the buck" audio gear you have owned(in your history)?
Well it's not my favorite piece of gear, not by a long shot - but purely based on "bang for the buck" I am hard-pressed to name anything that has squeezed out $400 of value as much as my old Bluesound Node2 that I picked up 5+ years or so ago.
My Experience With Tekton
I really like John DeVore’s approach as described in this snippet from a 2019 interview: Before 2000 I’d never even seriously considered starting a speaker company. I was having fun building just for me and my friends, and a quick survey of the Hi...

Thanks for sharing your experiences @danager... exactly the type of input I'm so curious about.  The roles and impacts of tweaks relative to entire system/room.   With that foundation I can now work on tweaks. I totally agree with this.  Get eve...

@danager  I've had mixed success with replacing stock AC cords.  It had zero impact on my old Pass XA30.8 (even using a Purist Audio) but had a very notable improvement on my Sugden A21SE (I'm using an Audio Envy - under $200).Installing a dedicat...
