Replaced Mid-RangeBest way to Burn-IN ???
03-23-11: ShaunpIs it normal when you replace a mid-range for that speaker to sound a little louder than the other due to it being a new driver?IME, yes.
Review: Acoustic Revive RR-77 Tweak
Hello, another revival of this thread. I just bought a used one, and do need to follow up with Krell Man's question of how one knows it's working? Is there any physical signs from the unit itself (ie vibration and/or sound, other than the light) o...
Opinions on Mogami Cable?
I just ordered a pair of 2534's from Redco. $45 shipped. Will compare to the 2549's and report any interesting findings.
Shindo Preamp - Home theater bypass
Glad I could help. I should add the in's don't have to be Aux, they can be any open connection. I'm currently using 'Tape Loop' on my preamp for HT bypass.
Opinions on Mogami Cable?
02-01-11: Jazzgene@TholtHow did you come to the conclusion that 2534 has more shielding than a 2549?I remember reading about this issue in various places on the web, though now I can't recall where exactly. Perhaps what I meant was that, as you st...
Shindo Preamp - Home theater bypass
You can have "HT Bypass" on any preamp with Aux in's...I used to own an Aurieges. Simply plug your mains cables into the Aux input, set the vol dial to something specific, like 12 o'clock, then volume adjust using the HT remote to control overall ...
Opinions on Mogami Cable?
Update after about 80 hours (+ previous break in from the last time I used them) -- I'm pretty impressed with the Mogami in my system. It is at the critical point between source (CDP) and preamp. First, I've never heard such precise imaging ever f...

New Zu Mission cable
IMO this marketing snafu was short-lived. I don't think it will take much to get back to "normal" and in the public's good graces. I believe they will be resurrecting the direct sales model as well. Let's just hope they get a real website up soon....
New Zu Mission cable
Their new CEO (as of Aug 2010), the one responsible for all the bewildering marketing tactics, has recently been fired. Apparently, we were not the only ones questioning the chaos. I believe that Sean and Adam (co-founders) are back in leadership ...
Cable Elevators killed my bass
Maybe in another 25 years, cable elevators will as common sense as washing your hands to prevent coldsDoubt that. And no idea how much metal is in the floor. Small differences i hear, nothing major. But at least the cables are off the floor, and m...
Grilles or No Grilles
I started a thread elsewhere re: re-grilling speaker grills. My issue is that, while my current speakers sound better sans-grills, IMO, they are butt-ugly without them (Hyperion 938). So I ended up buying some very acoustically transparent grill c...
Speakers that sound like the Hyperion 938's
I own the 938's and have had to deal with Hyperion cust service on a couple of occasions. FWIW I bought my speakers used, so the speakers were not under any warranty. The service may be a tad slow, but I can say that 1) As far as I know, they are ...
biwire trick
Good for you for experimenting and trusting your ears.As long as nothing blows up, or now has a reason to, why not (thanks Al)? I was piqued by the Nordost write up -- to attach the leads to treble and mid from a single cable. In their case they f...
