How important for surrounds to match fronts? I have done it both ways, and having all the same brand and family of models designed to work together a big difference in sound. I find on both 5.1 Audio (SACD/DVD-A) and movies especially noticable on DTS soundtracks. As mentioned is it a must h...
Quiet Amp Cooling Fan Anyway you can vent the amp by raising it a little to offer more convection? I didn't see a mention of a cabinet, but I have two McIntosh amps in cabinet and have cut some larger 3" holes underneath and above, so as not to interfere with the footi...
Madrigal Proceed PCD3 remote control... HELP http://www.remotecontrolsinc.com/Here is a place to start, they also repair. If not then maybe Logitech Harmony offers a remote with a downloadable codec for the Proceed. Good Luck
Mcintosh Quality after buyout by D&M holdings I have owned a few Mc amps and more recently I had a MC352 that was a product of McIntosh when Clarion owned them, then traded in for a MC402 which came out of the D&M era. The 402 is a much better amp in all areas of sound reproduction. As me...

Turntable Bearings To answer your question, one must first determine the value of the table in what you believe it's current condition to be. I sounds as if you are somewhat confident that there is/could be an issue with the bearing. At this point, walk away there a...
Tom Petty "Hypnotic Eye" SlawThanks, I think this is one to get on CD and avoid the vinyl.
Tom Petty "Hypnotic Eye" I listened, streamed, to it and therefore I can't get a good "sonic" feel for the recording. But I thought it was well done and the writing was good. I am also a big TP fan and enjoy most all of his work. I wouldn't hold this up to Full Moon Fever...
Turntable Bearings Still might worth a call to Audioalternative as he may have bearings removed when people upgraded. Just a thought, also he can probably tell you what to look for when inspecting yours. Off hand I would say remove the subplatter and clean all the o...
Turntable Bearings You can easily replace the bearing on an LP12, contact Rick at audioalternative.com, he is a LP12 guru. If anyone knows these tables top to bottom it would be him.
Which preamp is better C50 or C2500 for MC402? I have a 402 and have it coupled with a Audio Research LS26. I had a MX135 prior to the ARC, I did look at the C2300 when I bought the ARC. My point is not to steer you away from McIntosh as I really do appreciate the sound and build quality of th...
Bed BATH AND BEYOND I knew they had some CD's, I did see a TT in there the other day, but now vinyl??Gee maybe Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds should get into selling Rock Star Bed Sheets and Window Coverings.
Porqupine Tree Yes, I got introduced to their music a few year back. All I can say if you loved Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree is the next logical step. Steve Wilson is a friggin' genius!
Audio Research LS26 vrs REF 3 About 2 yrs. ago my LS26 needed a relay replaced and the dealer goofed up and long story short, sent me home with his demo REF3 till the parts came. About 4 days, and I kept wishing that the plane carrying the parts would crash or get hi-jacked. I...
Speaker grills I notice a big difference in the upper range. I have never been to a live venue where there were speaker grills. Grills are WAF and that is the only logical reason they even exist, in my book, which I am working on a movie now:) |
