Suggestions for Full Range Speakers up to 10K
I have been in the market and am focusing on the 10k as well. I haven’t had much time to audition very many so far due to work and finding dealers with many to offer in that price range. But so far I listened to the Sopra 2’s but only once and wh...
Popping sound on SACDs from Ayre
I have the same player with the “mp” upgrade and have never experienced this issue. I have had a few small issues and found Ayre to be very supportive and responsive to render a solution. I would contact them as this may be a minor fix and they ca...
Are there any really good cd cleaners out there?
I have been using Shinola for years with great results. Especially on Netflix discs that sometimes won’t read. It is available at Elusivedisc.com 24.99 per bottle.

KONTAK CLEANER
Craig makes a few different brushes and swabs that are prefect for this task. Also I can’t find the exact name right now but Music Direct sells a little plastic tool that has a male and female RCA molded on each end to scrub both jack. But be care...
Audio as a weapon
Trelja, it is interesting that you have the same experience. I did find it amazing that sound frequencies can have such an effect on our bodies. But I guess in the grand scheme, sound can take the blame for the hearing loss we all realize with age...
Audio as a weapon
A few years back at a RMAF There was a company demonstrating a new type of sub woofer which was really a fan blade driven but they could achieve as low as three hertz. The demonstration involved Playing a series of samples of different levels of h...

I have three windows behind my speakers and a patio door on the opposing wall. Last year I installed Hunter-Douglas Cadence Vertical blinds and I used to have acoustic panels on the walls and have not put them back up. These blinds when you look a...
Tube temperature for ARC Ref 6
tattooedtrackman, I may have mislead you some. My temp reading with an infrared thermometer was thru the top cover and not directly on the surface of the tube. So the surface temp maybe higher and I am sure it is. And my highest readings were the ...
Tube temperature for ARC Ref 6
I have a REF5se and had this concern when I first purchased the unit. Using an infrared thermometer I can get readings up to 156° which is mostly over the 6550. But in talking to the folks at Active Thermal Management, I was told that the 6550 wou...
ARC Ref 6 and Ref 10 opinions , talk, stories, buying options and opinions
I own a REF5se as well, but did also hear a REF10. My pocket book made the decision very easy for me. If my ears wrote the check, I would have a REF10. And as bifwayne asked, please share you opinions and experience between the 5 and 6.
HT by-pas to utilize a stand alone pre-amp
If I understand your question correctly the short answer would be yes. To clarify you want to use a different preamp but utilize the amplifier section of your KWI200?
AUDIO PRICE INSANITY PRICE VS. PERFORMANCE WORTH IT?
I think that if your investment divided amongst the components, in a manner where each is in the same relative price range, then your system benefits. Or in other words if you have a preamp and an amp and the CD player or turntable are all in pret...
Getting the cartridge weight setting right... Rega RP10
Thanks Liamowen, I have, as mentioned, been experimenting trying to maximize performance. But it can be frustrating as well as enlightening. Appreciate your response.
Getting the cartridge weight setting right... Rega RP10
I have an RP10 as well with a Lyra Kleos and have found that’s 1.72 seems to be the best. I bought an Ortofon scale and it has been very consistent. Just curious what do you have you’re table setting on? I have been trying a few things and am want...
