Need opinion for Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai?
I tries the 47ai before I bought theMarantz DV8400 but am waiting to upgrade the Marantz as well. The legato-link d/a conversion system Pioneer uses is a great D/A and has a warm analog sound. 
Upgrading from Receiver to Separates
If you like the Rotel sound why not go with Rotel Pre-Pro amd amp. Otherwise it's a try till you buy. 
Classe or McIntosh
One thing with McIntosh is that if you don't like them you can usually get what you paid for them re-selling them. 
Hardwoodfloors and Spikes
I have a freind that has great results with "quarters" nickels might work but resting the spike into the quarter is a pretty good deal because the spike actually digs into the copper and the quarter rim seems to hold it in place

Personnaly I would play them on a turntable and disply the art of music.

You may want to try some through rugs or carpets fo echo control. This would be cheaper than ripping out tile unless you just want to get rid of the tile. Also do you have many plants in the house try putting taller leafier plants in the corners. ... 
McIntosh or BAT amps what is your preference
Jfrech, I am using a MC352 for the front channels and a MC7205 5 channel amp for the ctr and rr's. Just using 3 of the 5 channels there. Using an MX134 as pre/pro. Speakers are Revel Performa F32's C32 and M22's. Sources Linn Ikemi CD,Marantz DV84...
