New McIntosh system problem... need advice
Solid state Mcintosh would be the next logical step in that direction. C45 or something in recent years. The tube sound I think is what you are getting aquainted with. I would just give it time. After all the thing that we "audiophilaic inflicted"...
HELP with Room Treatment See Slideshow
The one thing you don't mention is what issues you are having. Are you getting return echo from the hallway-kitchen side? That gives you a big unbalance on the left side. I would say try adding treatmenst to those areas to absorb any sound from co...
New McIntosh system problem... need advice
The advice I read the most here is give it time and try new tubes. I am a long time McIntosh owner and just recently sold a MC352 in favor of a 402. That is a great amp, and does most things well. No amp does it all well, hence the audio industry....
Album burrs on outside edge.
Oregon, for 600 I'll even through in the label re-setter.After all a properly set label is the key to the stylus anti-eccentric tracking error correction force regenerator. And who doesn't want that gremlin tamed?
McIntosh tubes, enough to drive totem?
I agree it should be fine. Keep in mind McIntosh is always conservative on their amp output ratings. I would suspect that you can add a 10-15% increase for output creciendo demands if not more.
Album burrs on outside edge.
I see an business opportunity here: A machine that cuts it to a "mysterious" angle and enhances the sound as it would redirect any vibrations that would potentially feed back to the cartridge. And maybe the machine could offer two distinct angles ...
Krell VS McIntosh
I have listened to Krell with Theil-Vienna Acoustics and PSB speakers. I have owned McIntosh and listened to them with a number of speakers as well. My impression (personnal taste of course) always has brought me back to McIntosh. I feel that the ...
Record cleaning concentrates
I have tried a number of products. I have settled on the Walker Prelude 4 step system. It is time consuming but it seems to work the best. I hear a clarity that I haven't heard in some recordings. I have tried L'Art Dus, Record Doctor, VPI, Nitty ...
Esoteric DV50 or SA60 for 2 channel audio ?
The one thing difference that I am aware of is that the SA60 has a newer design transport. They supposedly improved the clamping mechanism and made it much smoother. So I would say that it will sound better. IMHO of course
Anybody notice DTS is hardly used anymore?
I don't know why they don't use it. I always see it listed in the end credits but they don't use it on the disc. It is the best in my opinion, so it must be a cost issue. Kinda like all DVD players and Sat recievers use TosLink and I prefer coax. ...
From LP12 to where...?
Thanks for all the feedback, I guess that I would be better off finacially to invest in Linn Table frame or possibly build on in my shop. I have a dealer that doe an excellent job of setting these up. As a fact he has them sent to him across the c...
Speaker choice for workshop
Nubs, how long does it take to type your response. And you may consider a SawStop before they call you knuckles. Sorry just for chuckles.
Paradigm Servo 15 picking up AM radio station
So does it make an AM jock sound like an FM jock? Sorry. I have never heard of this but here are a few scenerios. If you have Directv or dish sometimes that can feed it to a household. Mine was in my cordeless phone. Possibly if you have Sat TV yo...
Speaker choice for workshop
I found a set of energy conniseur 3's at a local dealer thatw ere on close out at half price and they can make the neighbors just as angry as if I had full paid full list. They have good bass and are mounted high so they interact with the ceiling ...
Album Storage
Kurt TankUnder "T" for "The" using the second "the" not the first "the". Although I have no "the The" albums, but if I did I would use "T" for "The" not "the" as the first response may have confused the situation with The The.
