Looking for tabletop ideas for VPI 16.5RCM
I have had my 16.5 mounted on a printer stand for years and it works great. What I did is take the rollout printer table and mount the 16.5 on it held in place with graveti and a peice of masonite that I drilled 4 holes to accomadate the feet of t...
Linn Sondek Isolation
A couple of things I have done to set my LP12 up is 1)place it on Aurios, that helps a lot and 2) brace the cabinet against the wall, preferably a stud area. I have a wooden block that is basically wedged between the cabinet and the wall, you actu...
Time to pull the trigger on BluRay?
There is a another thread "denon bluray" running right now that address the new universal blu ray. Might gather some more infor there. Just as an FYI.
Denon Universal
Mlawitm, do you know the model# of the new Denon player?I have been waiting for that to replace my 5910ci. I really want to do blu ray but wanted to use one player that does it all.
Do Toslink Coaxial adapters work well or .......
I used one and still on one but I used it on a Sat recieverthat only had a Toslink. I really can't say that I noticed any difference good or bad. But a Sat receiver may not be the best acid test. I don't use it anymore since the recievers have coa...
revel m22 or f 30's
I am using a MC 402 but had a MC352 for most the time I have owned them.
revel m22 or f 30's
I own th the F32's and had heard the F30's but when I listened I felt they were not as good as they could be at the price point. I am glad I waited as they really don't seem to be related at all. The M22 is much closer in sound to the F32 with the...
any retipping advise on a linn troika?
I beleive that cart is made by Goldring. I have one as well and I am sure my dealer said is made by Goldering or at least they do the best re-tipping for Linn.
What is your dream turntable?
If I ever sell the LP12 I think, budget permitting, I would love to have the Gran Prix Monaco with a Lyra Titan icartridge. But a distant dream at best.
Happy Thanksgiving fellow Audiophiles
And to you as well. And to add to the list of gratitudes. We must be thankfull to live in a land where electric service is consistant. And to have a/c conditioners that complete the job. To have the freedom to buy any kind of music we want without ...
New LP Returns
I agree with Cycloniman on that piint that the dealers should be the catalyst of a formal protest. But the record companies need to realize that the end user is unhappy and that if they were to try to bypass the dealer with direct sales that we wo...
New LP Returns
I have heard that some dealers will actually refuse to do business with you if you are returning too many. I guesswe as consumers need to send the record companies a message. BUt it could backfire and we lose the records altogether. But economic b...
McIntosh MC205 hum
I just bought a MC205 as well and replaced an MC7205 which had the same issue. My hum was in the speakers and presented itself as a buzz more than a hum. I do have a slight hum at the amp and that according to McIntosh that hum at the amp is the e...
Has anyone tried refinishing your speakers.....
As a woodworker and audio junkie I have looked at doing it and the one advice I can give you is do not sand the veneer. As mentioned above it is too thin. Use a scraper available at Woodcraft, Lee Valley, Rockler and the sort all with web sites. S...
Wilson better than Thiels?
I personally think that the Sophias are the best value and sound in the Wilson line up. The Maxx's sound great but I feel they deliver too much bass and lose the overall emphasis on the full music presentation. The Sophias just seems to balance th...
