Jackson Browne's "Time the Conqueror"
I wish that musicians and hollywood alum would keep in mind that we (THE FANS) pay for entertainment. We don't need them to explain politics to us, we bought into the music, that is what made the famous and they should keep their eyes on the ball....
Amps compared
I would say that if you like the sound that the Counterpoints provide to the Revels, I would keep that sound by adding the extra power. I have the F32's and power them with a McIntosh MC352 and have been very happy with the power reserve and the s...
what exactly is ht bypass
I am looking at doing the same as soon as the money is there. My sights are set on the LS26. One thing I have learned while deciding what to buy is that some manufactures refer to this feature as "unity gain" so keep that in mind when shopping. As...
Roy Orbison
I have this as well and the recording is just that good. It is pleasing to know that someone had enough apreciationfor what and who they were recording. Goosebumps? Yep that emotion comes through the speakers as if Roys spirit is in the room with ...
Weird system issue
Sounds like it the tape loop. Did you try switching the source to Phono on the record side of the loop? I am not familiar with your pre amp but that is what I think of first when reading your chain of events
Turntable setup
Take a look at Fremers DVD available from most internet audiophile music dealers.
PS Audio P300 or Cardas Golden Reference?
I would normally say go with the Cardas GR as I have my system wired with them. But one set really won't give you the noticeable improvemant that a cleaner power will. I would start with the power and then add the Cardas GRs as budget permits. One...
Anyone muffel a VPI 16.5
I guess that I should just keep using ear muffs. I was hopeing someone had a muffler like you can buy for a shop vac. Bummer
McIntosh MX134
The MX134 is a very good pre-pro. I had one and traded it in for the MX135. The 135 offers a better processer chip but the 134 offers much the same performance that I beleive will exceed many of todays pre-pros in the priice range it is sold as us...
What McIntosh disc player sounds better?
I haven't heard the 871 but heard the 861 and I thought is very similar in sound on SACD, but I vote for the 301 on Redbook. I guess it would come down to, do you need the DVD-DVD/A or you after the Sacd/Redbook for playback. Either piece will jus...
The Moody Blues - "Seventh Sojourn"
Great album although Pinder did contribute to Octave but didn't tour and left the band at that time. patrick Moraz added another dimension to the bands sound with Long Distance Voyager. After that album they just could find their creative juices a...
Is unity gain a real HT bypass?
My understanding is that Unity gain, HT Bypass, Cinema Pass Thru, Processor Pass Thru are all different names for the same thing. Each manufacture has come up with a name to make it appear as they have a special input/output circuit. But from my r...
whats a good older hdcd cd player?
The Linn Ikemi is a great sounding redbook and HDCD player and I see them fairly frequently here on AG
Rega P25-best upgrade
Amondrool is right with the technoweight. I owned a P25 for a few years and added just about every tweek that I could get for the table. Some helped and some went the other direction. But the one investment that I can say stood out as most obvious...
Buying used vs. New
I guess it all comes down to personnal economics. We take chances on buying here on AudioGon but I have so far(knocking on wood)been lucky. I would love to buy new all the time but then I would be increasing the time line of getting what I want. I...
