SHM-SACDs
Nice to see that SACD isn't quite dead for those of us that want to add to our collections. I didn't see any pricing but I am sure they will be available through the usual music dealers. Thanks for sharing
Jeff Beck - Emotion & Commotion?
Well I liked it first play, but had to go through 3 boxes at Best Buy to get one that didn't have a broken hinge. Cheap box, Good Recording, Good performance 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
Is my room doomed? Pic
Does the sound get better with the drapes closed? That would be my first concern is the speakers firing at a reflective backwall. As close as you appear to sit from the speakers it may be your speakers are too big for your room.
Stylus Buildup?
To Newbee's question I would add are you doing a destat of some type before you play? And are you using a brush as well? I think that the reason some records have or produce more than others is due to the amount of static charge in the album. Or a...
Vu meters on my Mcintosh MA-6500 no longer "Blue"
The fuse for the lights or power supply will be "inside" the unit. The fuse you see on the rear panel is the power supply fuse for the whole unit. McIntosh uses a seperate power supply for the panel lights and places it inside. If the unit is worki...
Very interesting radio shack vs. audioquest
I tried the Bedrock a few years back and could have saved money by placing pillows over my speakers. But it really wasn't the sound I was looking for. Thankfully I was able to return them.
Vu meters on my Mcintosh MA-6500 no longer "Blue"
I don't beleieve the MA6500 uses LED's so it may be burned out bulbs which can be a challenge to change. Order a service maual and some bulbs from Mcintosh and you can do it your self if you are comfortable with a soldering iron. Also check with A...
Removing a Rega arm
ather than buy a wrench for the task, how about an adjustable wrench AKA Cresent Wrench that's what I always used.
How to tame brightness
Try aiming the tweeter a little out from where they are aimed now. Sound stage may suffer some but if you reduce the brightness it may outweight the difference.
What is the best arm for a Linn Soundeck 12
Juan as far as differnt armboard drilling locations for each arm I would again consult a Linn Dealer. If you want to be safe I would stay with Linn. Keep in mind any arm you re-mount on there other than a Akito will most likely require you have th...
What is the best arm for a Linn Soundeck 12
Well I guess from your other thread you have discoverd that the arm is not repairable. As mentioned in that thread I would look for a Trade-in EKOS or Akito since theEKOS SE is out and the dealer may have some. Another is the Naim Aro. What is you...
Linn Aquito arm servicing or replacing?
I would contact a Linn dealer in your area. It sounds like a bearing issue and probably is not repairable. But ask a dealer he will know based on the direction of the resistance. With the new EKOS SE arm out there maybe the dealer will have some t...
PC recommendation for McIntosh 501's
My first response would be Nordost to try and maintain or create a synergy with the rest of your system. The best that you can afford with in the Nordost line. I have aMC402 and use Cardas Golden Reference and am very happy but the rst of my syste...
I think I've made up my mind
Madfloyd just curious what tubed pre-amp do you prefer in the price range of the REF3? I have LS26 and would like to upgrade to the REF3, but am open to suggestion.
TT to another room, no vibs, better sounds?
Not an expert by any means here, but my first concern is cable length, emi/rfi exposure with longer cables and signal degradation. I would say stay on the track you are on and add a stand that contributes to dampening. Again just a novice speaking...
