Dorm Room Amp/Preamp I have used some small AV123 monitors and older floorstanding DYnaudios 70s. Its difficult to say how it would sound until you are there in the room but it still has so many appealing qualities for her situation. I have never owned Rega but the re...
Dorm Room Amp/Preamp Vinyl? Obi Wan, you have taught her well.....For my money, in my rooms with my speakers, I didn't like the NAD. I thought the sound was too sterile and clinical, but had great dynamics and drive. It might depend on the music she likes. I haven't t...
Sub $500 CDP Have you considered getting a DAC with an optical input? There are several for sale here (none of them mine). I think you can do better with a DAC than a dedicated CDP. I have not heard the Cambridge but it is well reviewed, has USB (for the futur...
Do power cables mAke difference on powered woofer It may be of note that Professor Hsu does not recommend an expensive power cord for any of his subs. He doesn't believe they make a difference. His company makes great subs.
Anti Cables to join my system, are they enough? A case in point is the digital source in Jylee's system. A PS1. How can that be? Because, in his system, it simply works. No one else can be the judge. Does the PS1 work in all systems? Of course not. But it does in his. And for $50. Go figure.
Anti Cables to join my system, are they enough? In audio you DO NOT get what you pay for. Like any other field some things are bargains and others are ridiculously priced. There is no sensibility at all for the prices that audio equipment costs. The only thing that matters is how it sounds in y...
Power Cord CDP Termination I replaced the cord on my Njoe Tjoeb 4000 (Marantz 4000) by wrapping the power cord with foil and shrink tubing and connecting directly to the block inside the unit. I don't know if it made a difference but it is more elegant.
Anti Cables to join my system, are they enough? Read all you want, get all the opinions you can stand, then order them and decide for yourself. 30 day return policy only costs $10 if you send them back. Why not?
Feelings on the Music Hall MMF 7.1 I cannot compare the 7.1 to other turntables. I have had one for several years. It is reliable, spot on speed every time I check it, the cartridge and tonearm still align perfectly (from the factory). There may be better. I like the reliability fa...
Downsize to Digital Integrated Amplifiers? I admit to never hearing these pieces. Philosophically, single boxes are compromises. Using the right computer stored music plus the right DAC may give us better sound for less money. It is the future. Whether or not the future is now is the quest...
best cd player for 300-500 bux Flyin2jz,We have all been there. In my mind (twisted as it is), every CDP has a DAC, most of the money on average CDPs goes into the drive, the case, the licenses, and not too much on the DAC. This changes when you spend lots of money on a CDP. Th...
best cd player for 300-500 bux The best move I ever made was to a stand-alone DAC. I have the PS Audio Digital Link III and can run coax digital in from the CDP, Optical digital in from a Mac, and USB in from my laptop. Great sound, flexibility and reliable. On sale here at Aud...
Tired of HT To further amplify what Tholt has said, start by placing the front speakers in the most perfect position relative to the room, irrespective of the TV or HT. Then, place your seat accordingly, use a pre-amp with bypass, keep your amp if you like it...
What is a good bookshelf You may have a blown crossover.
What is a good bookshelf Interesting idea-call parts Express. Sometimes they have identical replacement drivers. Very inexpensive and might be worth a try. easy to replace and it might be fun! |
