Help for Mark Levinson 31 Transport lolIf they don't know the size, how do they know that they're out of stock? Did they just say "Our company has no screws whatsoever. We've decided to sunset the screw technology. We've gone completely screwless. We feel the very idea of a screw is...
Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Anv. Is the foul language cleaned up on the new acoustic version? Starbucks was going to sell "Devils and Dust" by Bruce, but backed out because of the lyrical content of "Reno", which is a far more thoughtful "adult-content" lyric than "You Oughta Kno...
Heifetz Sibelius Violin Concerto I have the SACD release. It's great. Can't compare it to the other releases, because I never owned them. It's only $11 and the Prokofiev and Glazunov Concerto's are included. It's a no-brainer. Get it.
DVD-A question Thanks for the responses! I think I'm gonna sit awhile on the fence with this one. DualDisc and BlueRay would seem to jeopardize the future of DVD-A far more than SACD, and since I have over +100 SACDs now and only 4 DVD-A's, I think I'll continue...
CES and AYRE It got a glowing, gushing, review from Wes Philips in Stereophile. One unusual thing about it is that it is a 2 CHANNEL universal player. It might be unique in that regard. Cheers.
Any problems with Springsteens DualDisc? My Music Hall Maverick won't read this disc. My Sony XA-9000ES will read it sometimes. I'm with Metralla. I don't support this format. I had to have one just to find out first hand, though. I won't be buying any more DualDiscs.Cheers.
Creedence Clearwater Revival SACDs Ozzy, I just bought "Pendulum" on SACD, and mine also has trouble playing sometimes. Can you describe the problem you were having? On my copy, the last two tracks appear to have some sort of defect, where the sound drops out and comes back intermi...
B&W JM Labs or Paradigm Signature S8.....Help? I auditioned the Paradigm Signature S8's and they were good, but not substantially better than my Paradigm Studio 60's, so I could never justify the price. Very similar speakers. I like B&W speakers, unlike some of the others who've responded,...
Sonic Frontiers or Pass with Dunlavy 4a I'm driving my Sonus Faber GP Home speakers with a Power 2 amp. Even though the GP's are 90db rated, they are a hard load and need power. I think it has to do with the impedance curve which seems to be more important than the strict efficiency rat...
Unintended lyrics She's a bomb. I only need explain that particular Who lyric to someone who has never had a girlfriend....My current favorite came from my friend who is a professional carpet cleaner. He has a mocked up version of "Get Up" from "Green" by R.E.M. on...
How Big is Your Music Collection How big is your...... I think this forum consists mostly of guys. I'd propose an algorithm. Divide your titles by your age. Don't list your age or your number of titles, just say.....tfkaudio = 55.128 If your number is greater than 365, you are a ...
The Who Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD Hi, I saw that nobody has responded to this thread. I have this DVD, which is very good. The DTS mix is significantly better than the Dolby 5.1 mix in sound quality. But, you are correct that the DTS mix is somewhat mystifying. Both versions have...
Any problems with Springsteens DualDisc? Update. My XA9000ES will sometimes read this disc. Sometimes it comes up "No Disc". Agree totally with 1markr!
Blue for newbie A real good way to get the essence of the blues is to buy the Chess Records 50th Anniversary CD compilations. Look for them on Amazon. Put "Chess 50th" into a search and you will find them. If you don't know, Chess Records was a Chicago record lab...
Brian Eno I've also got Warm Jets. It sounds pretty good. I lost (read stolen) my original copy so I can't compare, but I don't recall that the original CD sounded very good at all. Question: Why remaster with DSD and not release it as an SACD? |
