Advice needed on power cables, wall warts, conditioning, electrical outlet
Why do you say that, @alexberger ? Stray fields are smallest, efficiency highest. Please share - I do hate persisting in error.
Advice needed on power cables, wall warts, conditioning, electrical outlet
A last note: when the electrical inspector came to inspect my installation, he said it was the cleanest power he had ever seen, comparable to the electrical generating station where he used to work. It may not be as flashy as the Koetsu, but it's ...

Plitron medical isolation transformers are what I use. Words of caution: isolation transformers tend to hum when they are doing their job, so you want to site these in a utility room. Installation is not hard, but unless you have some experience ...

Glad to share. Plitron makes a great medical isolation transformer - I use 4 of them. Will fill in some specifics later today, when Sunday calms down a bit.

@cakyol  Thank you. I sometimes feel a bit lonely when trying to help someone who genuinely wants to learn.

I did this experiment: 1. borrowed very high end power cords - significant difference - but not as much as spending the $10K on the pre, the amp, or anything else 2. installed isolation transformer to run separate outlets at 20% of above cost 3...
Turntable Hum
I have a similar problem with my Mayajima cartridge, but not the Koetsu. Turns out that the Mayajima requires a step-up transformer for isolation as well as amplification. May not work for you, but ...
Subwoofer for music, how low?
Denmark? Did you say Denmark? The country of ScanSpeak? Their 'Revelator' series is wonderful for DIY. Add Bryston for amplification and you have it all, except DSP, which can be obtained from an audio processor (digital doesn't matter for low fr...
''Óriginal parts'', ''identity '' and ''retip'' conundrum
VERY well said, Dover.
''Óriginal parts'', ''identity '' and ''retip'' conundrum
@nandric I was speaking of high end cartridges, all or partially made by hand, not assembly line. As for assembly line cartridges, I do expect sample to sample variation, because of materials or tolerances - that is, serendipity. I retired from ...
''Óriginal parts'', ''identity '' and ''retip'' conundrum
"Why should any manufacturer do this better than an retipper ." Um, having all the jigs? Extensive specialized experience with one configuration? Knowing the exact part with was used originally? Buying a lot of 100 and keeping 2? Having a lot mor...
amplifier longevity
Depends where the heat goes. If the chassis is built to isolate other components from the heat, no problem.
''Óriginal parts'', ''identity '' and ''retip'' conundrum
Instead of " expect a high end manufacturer to choose high end parts" should read " expect a high end manufacturer to choose highly selected parts"
''Óriginal parts'', ''identity '' and ''retip'' conundrum
Four things. First, which exact parts, as in part numbers, did the manufacturer use? I'm an ignorant man, I don't know if this is an issue; but it sure is an issue with every other mechanical device I own.  I'll bet that a Koetsu isn't going to s...
amplifier longevity
@tomic601  @bigkidz @audioman58  +1 Heat cooks caps. Select specific models. Amps sound different, are built to different standards - choose one within your budget that.also sounds good. Good luck!
