Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? Been busy with all the ideas. Made a new hole in the back of my equipment cabinet for power cords. All power cords are now separated from interconnects. Checked and cleaned all connections. Found a loosened RCA connector in one speaker and tight...
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? A few things that I can add to the equation: When the sub-bass is good on a recording, it sounds really, really good. I think if every recording was as good as the best ones I’d always have tremendous sub-bass. I’m listening to MQA on Radio Par...
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? I really appreciate all the suggestions. It gives me a lot to work with. This forum has been a great resource for advice. @joshua43214 On isolation, my 2 subs are sitting on thick recycled rubber pads made to be used for outdoor patio blocks. ...
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? I’m out looking for “Get Better Sound” by Jim Smith. It sounds like a source of information to keep working on. @jl35 My listening chair is quite low, so it will be a good starting point. I can try raising it in increments as one variable. G...
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? Thx for the comments! I do have a carpeted space upstairs with only 1 regular window that I could move to. But then I would have to “do music” as a separate, stand alone activity. If I did that, I would listen to music much less. Windows and l...
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? @mikelavigne Wow! I did look at pictures of your room. I appreciate your advice! And I will follow up on it.
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff? Yeah…I like these kinds of ideas! I’ve already made 5 - 6 upgrade purchases this year, so it’s time to step back to try some tweaks. It’s easy to try things and if they don’t work I can go back. I don’t have the opportunity to listen to better ...
Improve sound I’d buy a used sub first. With that you will add in frequencies that you speakers are completely missing. $700 range. I have and like a Hsu ULS15 Mk2. PD Creative power interface for the Node and Teddy Pardo power supply. $300. This will imp...
I have found out why new cables and tweaks actually work! I never read a post by someone who said, “I just changed my oil and my car runs better.” I suppose they typically just keep that to themselves.
Has anyone tried the new Synergistic Research UEF Performance Enhancer - Ethernet Filter? Its difficult for me to understand how audio technically works. And then you have multiple components made by different manufacturers that creat effects amongst them. For this one, the name “Synergistic Research UEF Performance Enhancer - Ethern...
Pontus ii and Hi Res @vthokie83 What if our modem and router is located on the floor above and on the opposite side of our house from the Node? Isn’t a very long Ethernet cable problematic?
Pontus ii and Hi Res I have a Node 3 and added an SMSL M400 DAC with MQA. I believe it is an improvement in sound quality over the streamers DAC. I can do a direct A-B comparison of a recoding in MQA and CD Quality playing on Radio Paradise. I have not been able to di...
The revolution has begun! 2022 TV’s are much better than 1980 TV’s. I expect that audio is the same.
Crimping tool? Molex 63811-1000 Service Grade Hand Crimping Tool is the Cadillac. But this or similar would do the job if you only have a few connections:
DAC league table I bought a used Bluesound Node 3 and a SMSL M400 DAC with preamp capability and I think they operate and sound great. I upgraded the Node power supply with a PD Creative board and a linear power supply. Total cost was just over $1000. |
