Purchase on Audiogon arrived not as described
Buying insurance does not mean that you will get a refund if there is damage.  It only allows you to claim damage.  Carriers require packing which withstands a drop of 3 - 6 ft onto concrete.  How many packages can meet that standard?  And don’t e...
How to Connect Headphones to a SMSL DAC
Update - thanks to everyone who chimed in answers!  I bought an RME ADI-2 DAC fs, which has a headphone amp with 2 outlets, one for IEM’s.  I also bought the Sennheiser HD600’s.  They sound great together.  This gives me the option to listen late ...
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
The RME ADI-2 has full DSP processing with Bass, Treble, Loudness, 5 Band Parametric EQ, and Crossfeed.  Has anyone found this to be a good solution for improving their SQ?  It comes with both a remote and an app to allow control all of its functi...
Made Major Upgrade at $0 Cost in 1 Minute
@jl1ny Thanks again for your thoughts!  I don’t have remotes for the subs, but I could rig an extension cord to turn them on and off to make a more precise assessment of how to set the volume level.  I know it’s hard to describe in words what SQ s...

@jl1ny Good comments.  My 15in and 12in sealed subs are turned down now so I don’t notice them.  When I put my ear near them, I hear some output.  For music with lows like an organ I hear the sub bass. My speakers and subs are all powered, so I do...

@mclinnguy Ah…you’ve been testing for 30 years!
Made Major Upgrade at $0 Cost in 1 Minute
@mclinnguy Oh, I’m afraid of what I might find out! Just kidding…I don’t have Roon, but I’ll find a way to give it a try.
Made Major Upgrade at $0 Cost in 1 Minute
@mclinnguy Once my wife and I were listening to some music with piano in it. She is a professional musician. In one passage I heard some “taps” that were lower frequency. I asked her what instrument that was and she said those were piano high note...

Thx for the comments! Everything is helpful.  Comments from this forum have gotten me to the place where I am now.  I’ll keep working at it, as my next step is to experiment with REW.  Then maybe I’ll try some kind of bass management or DSP.  But...
All-In-One (NAD C-658) vs NODE N130 with Separate DAC and Headphone Amp
@toro3  Thx I am working through the thread you mentioned. DIRAC might be an upgrade for my system. @mahler123 I’d like to try DIRAC.  Good to know it’s just for one spot.
All-In-One (NAD C-658) vs NODE N130 with Separate DAC and Headphone Amp
@audiotroy  Good to hear…at least the C658 streamer isn’t worse than the Node! Do you have any idea how the DAC in a C658 compares to a SMSL M400?  Do you know what kind of power supply is in the C658? I would look at the Evo when I get the funds...
All-In-One (NAD C-658) vs NODE N130 with Separate DAC and Headphone Amp
I don’t mind trying DIRAC.  Some NAD C-658 owners report they like it and some don’t.  Comments on the C-658 seem mixed.  Is the streamer the same as the NODE?  Is my SMSL M400 better than the DAC in it?  I don’t know the answers.
How to Connect Headphones to a SMSL DAC
Thx @soix  I have a better understanding.  I’ll give it more thought.  Often when I want to use headphones it’s late and I’m tired.  I don’t know if I would opt to switch connections.  I can see how some people end up with a separate headphone sys...
How to Connect Headphones to a SMSL DAC
Here’s my system.  I have a NODE N130, but I’m bypassing the internal DAC.  A USB cable connects the NODE to a SMSL M400 DAC.  The M400 has 2 RCA outputs, these are connected to my 2 powered B&O speakers.  The 2 balanced outputs on my M400 eac...
How to Connect Headphones to a SMSL DAC
@soix Thx!  I’m not sure about connectors.  Would I use the balanced out from the DAC to the balanced in on the Singxer?  Right now my powered subs are using the balanced out on my DAC.  Could I instead plug them into the balanced out on the Singx...
