Checking the AC polarity of your amplifier
Nsgarch, initially I found that leakage voltage measurement failed to be a guide for better sound, but the ultimate problem I had was with hum with phono caused by the ground of the turntable not really seeing a ground when plugged into the Equi=T...
Checking the AC polarity of your amplifier
Sean, my experience with asking manufacturers about using ac filters or transformers is that they always say it is better plugged directly into the wall. I have often found they are wrong, however. Until I got the IsoClean transformers, I had alwa...
Checking the AC polarity of your amplifier
Neil, as long as it is below 32 volts I am unconcerned. There also is little current.Sean, while balanced power does seem like a great idea in reducing noise, I do think many crafty designers, assuming unbalances power, can result in users with ba...
Checking the AC polarity of your amplifier
There have been instances where I preferred the higher leakage voltage. This also gets quite muddled with parallel transformers, such as Equi=Tech. Sometimes the leakage voltage is shocking (no pun intended).
To Loricraft users
Susan, wow, I would say that you made every effort to evaluate this. I guess my experiences are equally confusing, as we seldom get ceteris paribus.
To Loricraft users
Do you agree that it is better? I really don't think Vinyl one is all that bad, but cleaning and then vacuuming with the Loricraft is a problem. What do you use instead?
To Loricraft users
I may have an incompatibility between my Loricraft and the AudioTop Vinyl One. The cleaner is excellent but is volatile. Even using a good amount in the time that it takes to use a brush on the record and the time for the Loricraft to vacuum off t...
Inverting and or non inverting amp?
Typically for preamps the number of amplification stages with each inverting the signal determines whether overall it is inverting. Three stages would be inverted. I had a preamp once that had a invert switch. When you pushed it, another tube was ...
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better?
Saxman, apart from the EMM transport I met all of your conditions in urging me to listen to the EMM system. It is not that I disliked the EMM as I did dislike the dCS gear, I just thought other unit were better and cheaper. If I get a chance, howe...
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better?
Kana, although it was the EMM modification of the Phillips sacd 1000 with the DAC6 which I had, I did do the comparison you suggest with both the Allen Wright Level 4 Sony CDP3000 and the Exemplar 2900, not the much better Exemplar 3910. Initially...
Have you tried SILCLEAR from Mapleshade?
Go to audioasylum.com and search. There were many posts about the first two products. I used SST for some time with a great benefit, but I now use AudioTop contact cleaner.
To Loricraft users
I rinse the nylon brush with distilled water occasionally. I had to stop using the DD brushes as the AudioTop evaporates too quickly to use them.I certainly have records that the Loricraft fails to remove all pops, but I frequently find that recor...
Audio Grade Fuse, Anyone?
Dusted, I also thought the wiring in my Exemplar 3910 was obvious as the ac came into the board beside one of the snap-ins of the fuse holder. My meter proved this to be wrong. Meters are cheap at Radio Shack. Make sure the unit is unplugged and t...
Audio Grade Fuse, Anyone?
I think it is about 3/4 inch. The direction is from the ac IEC connector toward the power supply. With the unit not plugged in use a meter to find which side of the open fuse holder shows conductivity to the IEC. The other end must be to the power...
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better?
Pardales, the Sony XA777 must be exceptional as my Allen Wright level 4 moded Sony CDP3000 was no match for the Exemplar 2900 even on sacd. As rapidly as digital evolves, there may be better than the 3910 in six months.
