Decca cartridge experiences
Andrewg, I had written a response, but it seems to have gotten lost. The Jubilee works very well on the Schroeder. The most critical adjustment is the gap between the magnets, where a slight increase can make the Decca mistrack. Anti-skating is als...

Shindo will take Garrard 301 and do mods on it. Checkout shindolabs.com for information. I bought the entire package which includes the totally modified 301, a modified Ortofon 12" tonearm, and a modified Ortofon SPU cartridge, which I have yet to...
has anyone cmpared audionote uk vs. audionote jpn.
I have had the pleasure of hearing Peter's home system while in the UK and have had the AudioNote Dac 4.1x as well as the first version of his speakers. I agree with Khaki above. Peter's entire AN system was exemplary and I was greatly moved by th...

Flyingred, you guys have brought the SP10 out of my memories of 30 years ago. I don't know why I am even interested, given that I have the Shindo Labs 301. I would love to hear the SP10 set up as you would have it.
Reimyo DAP 777 - looking for a good transport
Faziod, I agree about the price, but I do not lust after the DAP. I have had the dCS and the EMM and am happy to just have my Exemplar 3910, but I still lust after the CDP777.
Is SACD a dead format?
Ben, it is old age. It is anti-rap and girl singers who cannot sing. I don't like bebop either so I guess I lose some others also. It was rather gratuitous wasn't it.
Idler wheel drive vs Belt
I just found a picture of it. It was obsidian. I recall it being bigger than the unit shown, but maybe that was because it was so long ago. I think I had the 205 arm not the 100 shown at http://www.xs4all.nl/~rabruil/sp10page.html

C123666, It had a polished volcanic rock plinth. I did not know they came any other way. This was nearly 30 years ago.
Reimyo DAP 777 - looking for a good transport
Vermeer, I do indeed see your point. I have always wondered why the DAP is so cheap. Certainly you cannot say that about any other Reimyo gear, not that I am suggesting that the CDP, the preamp, or my amp are overpriced considering what you get. I...
Is SACD a dead format?
I have always thought that way too much is made of the decline of high end, of vinyl, and now of sacd and dvda. Technology is now more advanced and people have many ways to spend their entertainment dollars. I would grant that there were quality k...
Is SACD a dead format?
yes, I guess that is just the pace of technology today. The new Sony Playstation which will also play music, but only off a limited capacity chip is now a threat to the iPod. I expect cds will be with us for a long time, but that the blu-ray will ...

This suggests that there have been some major improvements. Do you know what they are?

I cannot imagine that there is this enamorment with the SP10. When I had one, the Linn LP12 killed it. It was pretty and big.
Is SACD a dead format?
Bigtee, I agree. But I think video and the computer industry are what is driving everything. If there is improved sound with the blu-ray or hdvd, it will be entirely incidental. Both always need more storage capacity. I also think we will not regr...

Does the new DAP have the K2 chip like the CDP? I think it is at the root of the excellence of the CDP.
