600 used speakers?
Second the Vandersteen suggestion. Some of the other speakers mentioned above are very revealing, and might sound a bit bright on your system. The V's have a warmer tonal balance that would work well with your system. Best of luck and happy new year!
Fried Need Help ASAP - system is smoking
it sounds like the system is not grounded. is there a ground fault in the wall power? get a polarity tester and check. i do not think line level signals are high enough to cause such a problem.it's a shot in the dark, i am not an electronics exper...
Power amp recommendation for Vienna Mahler
monoblocked amps from "aria"www.altavistaaudio.commike elliott is an excellent designer, I own one of his previous amps, and this one (a design he's been refining for years) promises to be a great amp.about $7000/pair for 350 watts of hybrid power...
Stable Platter Transports
I second the U2000 rec. No need for a sep. processor. This is an excellent machine...I sold mine and definitely regret it (using a cheap player now);(Good listening,Tom
Any comments on the Decware Zen amp?
the advantage of these amps is the very pure sound you will get...if you use speakers with an easy load and not a lot of crossover. they do not have a lot of drive, but they do very little to the signal. a tradeoff. count on having 96 dB efficient...
ML 390S vs dCS Verdi/Purcell/Elgar Plus
I wouldn't spend that much on CD replay. The CDs themselves probably won't last as long as the players, sorry to say, making big bucks digital a little silly in my opinion. But money is meant to spend, yeah oh yeah....
Which one of the 3 Stereophile test CD's to buy?
they're all cool. If you want a copy of the 2nd one, I can sell it to you for $10 shipped. It's unopened, I have an extra one. Email me back and I can list the contents. cheersTom Schuman
Tweaks break-in period ?
I find the very act of putting tweaks in place can give pleasure, if you're expecting a better sound, by getting one's blood flowing via the creative act of positioning the tweak and expecting a result.or, alternatively, tweaks may detract from th...
how to upgrade this digital front end ?
looking for vast improvements on redbook cd is an exercise in futility. you will find subtle improvements, if you listen super long and hard.as cfb pointed out however, the ergonomic improvement gained by going to a one-box player may be considere...
A matching amp for Kharma CE 2.0 for approx. 3K
You could go with a pair of Transcendent Sound monoblocks (OTLs as well), see their site at transcendentsound.comI would think the OTLs were addicting. I would not go for solid state again; I am surprised the Mac works better with your Graaf. You ...
Rega P3 / Music Hall MMF 5 or 7 Turntable decision
If you only have thirty records get a P2 and spend more money on records! Why have your stereo cost more than your software collection? cheers
McCormack RLD-1 vs Rogue Audio 66 vs TLC-1 deluxe
No brainer, the rogue, everyone needs some tubes in their life, especially if you crave the warmth and spatial properties of the classical music hall.My other recommendation is to sell the Mccormack amp and go with the Rogue or Conrad Johnson or A...
Help: New Rega P3 & Grado Platinum; No highs
Yes, the Classe must be set to mm operation via internal jumpers. Dull sound results from gain mismatch using mc setting with an mm cartridge. For a brief time I had almost the exact same setup as you do, and it sounded absolutely marvelous. Grado ...
Dynaudio 1.3mkII Vs Proac 1SC
For $550 look into the Magnepan MMG, if you have enough power (above 25 excellent watts). Needs some room to breathe but nothing stand mounted can touch it in my opinion. You can really 'see into' the recording with this speaker. Imposing physical...
Pre-amp for Manley MonoBlock 160W
never go solid state preamp, it will squash the openness of a tube amp. i would look into cary slp-50 or -90, good units at reasonable used prices.
