FINALLY-a cheapskates US cleaner?
I'll likely end up getting the Degritter or something of that caliber. Until then, keep hope SOMEONE will find a way to make a proper machine at a more digestible price.
Is improvisational jazz to impressionism art as smooth jazz is to realism art?
The thing with "smooth Jazz" is there is a subset of  highly processed dumbed down "smoother Jazz" 90's-present. The drum machine/synth stuff is criminal. The late 70's/80's groups are the benchmark. NO KENNY G please!

Pet Sounds: Most Overrated Album of All Time?
The FACT PS is being discussed 12 years since this thread was started is telling.   Few albums are worthy of debate such as Pet Sounds. Nothing contemporary or in the last 40/50  or so years is close to the level of PS-at least in how it influen...
FINALLY-a cheapskates US cleaner?
"recent tests of the production model (seen in three videos I’ve watched) aren’t entirely convincing. It doesn’t appear to have the cleaning power of the Degritter..." I'm wary of the price-"ya get what you pay for" Perhaps a little more time to...
How much should I pay for 2nd hand Opera Quinta SE
I f I were adventurous and had extra cash to blow, I would get these just because their outrageous looks. Opera Caruso Rare find
How much should I pay for 2nd hand Opera Quinta SE
Nice speaker.  I use a 1st generation Seconda, a step under the Quinta.  Opera is the "everyday man$" Sonus Faber in aesthetics and build quality. Used EVERYTHING is negotiable starting near 50%. Good luck.
Something Millercarbon has preached Be A Better Listener. Do not get mired in data.
Interesting...this may be a new groundbreaking trend. Start a tread on someone who starts threads.
JTR Speakers, why so much?
Their website is awful. Doesn't tell you anything about the company. Plain black boxes suggest home theater/pro audio is the focus. You don't need speakers  with nice veneer in the HT room. 18" subs-YES! Needed for explosions and a good concert ...
FM Tuners
"I'd be more comfortable under $300." If you look at the listings, 2 in your price range. There is a Marantz for $350. Prices are always negotiable. If you're adventurous, a true "vintage" Sherwood for $250. The Sherwood is tubed, so it will pro...

You may be able to get a decent amount of stations with a $2.00 dipole. Rooftop is mandatory for optimum performance. Unless you like Classical/Jazz and NPR, everything else is not worth the effort. Perhaps you're in an area with a decent soundin...
Kal was right!
Writeup is promising.  Nice looking speaker. Their cherry finish or ebony would be my choice. Nearly $20k MSRP but... MIC. Suppose that would be double if made in Wisconsin?  Enjoy them.
Why I sold my Magnepan .7's
" taken way out of context, especially by tablejockey." rankaudio- my comment is based on your experience "-Magnepans appear to shoot an equal amount of sound from the rear as well." The rear of the room/placement needs to be addressed. You did...
So much music that we never hear!
Radio station programming is to keep a listener for around 20 minutes. Nothing new. It's been this way for decades. Expand your listening tastes to Classical and Jazz for the PBS stations. They don't do the radio "formula"
How do you know when a stereo sounds good?
"Do you have a suite of measurements that removes all shadow of a doubt that you are getting good sound, sound that you enjoy? " In the spirit of audio as a hobby, you analyze the frequency response in your room. Being a gear head, kinda like hav...
