The value of a good FM tuner?......, now and in the future...
I can't imagine not being able to tune in the Classical or Jazz PBS stations on my Mac MR71. I do miss 70's R&R stations playing complete LP sides.Obviously streaming is superior regarding choices, but it won't have the magic tube sound of a 5...
the dreaded breaking of tonearm wire...now what?
With 13 years passing, the OP hopefully has mastered cartridge mounting, along with upgrading to the big leagues in turntable madness.
Why is black so popular for components?
Simple-cheaper for manufacturing.
Best ultrasonic lp cleaner in 2020 and what surfactant best?
"I then dry the record with my Nitty Gritty record vacuum and you are good to go."If you get good results, great. But the fact you're STILL using the Nitty Gritty AFTER the ridiculous regime(based on the video) seems a little much.I'm holding my b...
Audio Research preamps EXCESSIVE OPERATING COSTS
Weird thread. Is this that new "what's the deal with ARC" complaint forum?Buy tube gear to listen to music. SS does just fine for explosions and special effects along with marathon viewing as mentioned.
Unbelievable 3-D imaging sound
"I like them more like 3 feet minimum, to preferably 6 feet or more from the back wall."Perhaps they are in a living space, with constraints?I would have those out somewhere between 4-6ft out as well. A pair of subs would be on the list too!Since ...
Cartridge reliability
Outside of a particular arm compatibility- the Audio Technica ART9 has a following here. https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/pani-new-art-9-up-and-running?highlight=art%2B9There may some Linn owners commenting. I haven't seen any ART9 complaint...
Cartridge reliability
Based on your post, you're overthinking it. All brands have a bad experience or two from users. Most brands will have some degree of warranty to cover unexpected failure.
3 for 10
"The XLO CD demagnetizing tracks."I could be missing something I wasn't aware of! All my audio OCD is used up with record playback thankfully. I haven't gotten around to the marker tweak yet. The budget R2R DAC does wonders.
3 for 10
New music is a hit or miss thing for me. I have a friend put new LPs on a  CD for me. I'm glad I haven't dismissed the silver disc completely.
Does anyone know who's playing
The intstrument solo's don't lean toward anyone in particular. Pianist, sax and guitar have phrasings/tone signatures similar to Jazz notables, but could be current players as well.I'm curious to find out who the players are to confirm/correct my ...
One year down, two to go. What's the longest you have saved for one component?
Boulder 2060=that's a serious amp, both in performance and $.If I committed to that level of expense, I wouldn't be able to afford the rest of a system worthy of it! Staring at the amp on the floor would be the extent of my ownership. The electric...
Torqueo - any info or updates?
Even the "entry level" model looks like you shouldn't have anything LE$$ than an entry level Lyra,Koetsu etc cartridge, along with a proper phonstage. No cheaping out.Nice looking stuff. Maybe nicer than some of those custom Garrard?Having one of ...
Torqueo - any info or updates?
Aesthetically interesting, but that's about it. Very Italian.
How do I pay?
It’s sad two parties can’t do a gentlemans agreement these days. The honor system is a risky thing. I've done it in the past, but wouldn't now.
