Shunyata black mamba power cords Gorgeous on the right CD player. Version two is a little brighter than version one. Version one was my cord of choice on my CAL Audio Tercet, and I only gave it up because my current Cary 303/200 is a darker richer machine. If you can use darker a...
Ekos tonearm users anyone?.......Need help Of course the counterweight is adjustable: you'll have to set the antiskate and tracking force on the Ekos to zero and then inch the counterweight forward by twisting it minutely and pushing it towards the front ever so slightly on the tonearm sha...
Where to find obscure classical recordings? It's easy enough nowadays to order British CDs through Amazon.com England.
Naxos CDs with Great Sound Any and all of the Naxos guitar recordings-- those engineered in Toronto by Norbert Kraft and Bonnie Silver (most of them) are exceptionally naturally sounding, and the young guitarists are uniformly first-rate.
Tonearm Cable Upgrade for Linn ITTOK DIN cable Linn now makes the T. Kable for that purpose. It's a definite step up from the original Ekos cable I had on my LP12, and is made not to interfere with the LP12 suspension. It's about $400 used, a reasonable value given the cost of quality cables n...
Starting a classical library is BMG an answer? FYI, Columbia House no longer carries classical music-- they've foisted all the classical memberships over to the Musical Heritage Society. BMG is a wonderful way to go. Naxos does offer some fine recordings at budget prices, but you have to be ve...
Can speakers be too good? I think speakers can be too revealing. With Musical Fidelity and Kimber (and being a musician) you'll probably want a speaker on the kindly side. I know you say you're looking for a monitor, but listen to Vandersteen and Aerial in that price range...
What can i do to make my tube preamp sound warmer? By all means, ditch the interconnect. Silver is often bright and lean. If a copper interconnect doesn't do the trick, you might want to talk to Kevin Deal about different tube options for your preamp. But I'd start with the interconnect.
bright up "warm sound" speakers I'll second trying Goertz or Kimber interconnects or speaker cables. You might also want to try Zu. Scott
Vandies a good fit ? 18" from the back wall seems to be the magic number for Vandy 2 Sigs. Can't comment on the power issue.
How to ship albums? You can order LP shipping boxes from Bags Unlimited, not to mention tons of other LP related things: replacement inner sleeves, outer jackets for protecting LP jackets, etcetera. You'll find them on line.
Dark and laid back vs bright and forward If you're the real Lemmy Caution, "dark" means "bright", as "no" means "yes" (nod, that is, shake your head, to agree). Lemmy'll know what I mean. Glad to know there's still an audience for classic foreign cinema.
Can you warm up your tube amp ... Don't see why not. Warm up the amp, then turn it off long enough to hook up the cabling before switching it back on.
Powered Speaker Cables Do you mean the actively shielded cables, made by Synergistic?
What's under YOUR turntable? Neuance shelf, under an LP12/Valhalla/Ekos. Tried Aurios Pros, Signal Guard II, 1/2" glass, in various combinations, and I like this one best. |
