Time for spring cleaning
Right now I have an ARC SP9 mkII and a Moscode 300 that I am holding on to for an office system (any thoughts on small speakers that sound good at low volume?) I also have an NAD 316 AV int. that I am holding onto for a second HT system for the be...
Honky Tonk Tunes
Try anything by Amazing Rythym Aces. They have a year old HDCD and I have some old vinyl as well.
audiophile quality multi -disc CDP s?
I am presently running a California Audio Labs CL-10 5 disc changer. Former Stereophile class B and can easily be purchased used for about $800. I'm very happy with it. The LCD does have a (switchable) light, but I will admit its not all that visi...
Harmon Kardon + TV = no sound after 5min
It seems as though your receiver must have some sort of thermal overload protection or short circut protection that is shutting down the amp section. Maybe there is a short in the interconnects between the TV audio out and the TV input on the HK. ...
Is sound "additive"?
Doug- I am pretty sure that you are correct. It is additive, and not arithmetically. You would need an additional channel of amplification of course to power the second (third, etc)speaker. There are actually noise models that allow you to "add" n...
music you cant live without
John_1- Can you direct me to a good remaster of 4 way street. The original LP mix was, at least with the equipment I had then (AR TT, Pioneer SX 1000, large advents), atrocious. Have always wanted to see what it really sounds like.
TEACH ME ABOUT BI-WIRE
sfrounds- you are only half right. The speakers need to be set up to biwire, with separate + & - for LF and Mid/HF on each side. The amp, however, can and typically does have only one set of outputs. Imagine 2 + and 2 - for each channel at spe...
Vocalists/Musicians Wasting Their Talent
Maybe anyone who spent their whole career singing pop qualifies, but the one person with the killer pipes who, to me, has squandered her talent more than anyone is Whitney Houston. And that's totally leaving aside her personal life, documented beh...
Bi-wiring mishap
Kelly- actually, its the ticks that are the problem (Lyme disease named after Lyme, CT; about 40 miles as the crow flies or the leech slithers from my home).
Bi-wiring mishap
The event you have just witnessed was conducted by qualified stunt professionals. DO NOT try this at home.
How much would be lost if........
Tireguy- I wouldn't recommend it. There is a significant step up for 5.1, and the center channel is important for holding dialog centered and for intelligibility. Not sure how you would get the surround L&R out w/o a pro-logic decoder and then...
I have a tube amp question?????
Elgordo offers sage advise.
Impulsive audio purchase
Snooker- I'll pass. BTW, I end with dups occassionally too, but I do have a CD and a TT (however, right now I'm running a line stage). I havent bought any LPs in a while but I do admit to considering some. Pretty expensive software since it would ...
Impulsive audio purchase
Snooker- what are the dups?
really small speakers less than 500
Can hardly go wrong with any of the above. I've heard Spicas, Paradigm, PSB and NHT. All sound fine.
