Value of Futterman Amps
Anyone else out there have any insight into issue raised by Jctubes? I thought the motivation was to allow retailers to beat us down on trade-ins (just kidding about the retailers, but really want to know if anyone else can support Jctubes position).
FM antenna made simple
Bmpnyc- I am referring to a device about 4-5' long and approx. size of a 2x4. I don't have any significant multipath problems here, I put it in the attic (20' above grade) and I didn't hook up the amplifier, and was pulling in many, many stations ...
Emmylou Harris, "Red Dirt Girl"
I agree. Listened to it once and wanted to love it but didn't. Now I'll have to retry with phones (have to see if I can figure an easy way to hook my Stax box and Lamda pro jrs. to my big rig.
C/W music Audiogon members
I thought I had to keep that buried deep in the closet. My tastes started in folk, went to rock (Airplane, Dead, Youngbloods, etc.) in the 60's then on to country swing (Seatrain, Dan Hicks, Amazing Rythym Aces), bluegrass/newgrass (Old & in t...
FM antenna made simple
Av- nothing wrong at all, FM and TV same basic signal, just different frequencies (I think FM lies between two of the VHF channels). FYI, I think that Radio Shack has an amplified stick that appears to be the same as the Terk FM-Pro for a bit less...
FM antenna made simple
First try taping the t to a t shaped stick and then moving it around until you find the best spot for most stations. If that's not satisfactory, try a rabbit ears or other indoor TV antenna and do the same. If that doesn't work, there are amplifie...
Are Homegrown Interconnects shielded??
Dekay- are you using the Homegrowns in your system with the CAL? I have been thinking about some changes since I feel like the overall sound I have now is a little too laid back (CL-10, BAT VK31, DNA 0.5 dlx, Vandersteen 2ci) I have a mix of cable...
Audio Hype!!
Psieg- Lots of what you say is probably correct. However, not all of us have the ability or time for DIY. One thing this site does is allow us to dabble w/o spending huge sums. And I guess some folks get a lot of pleasure out of spending big $ on ...
Dealer Ethics? - Anonymous disparagement
John 1- whats an unannounced dealer? If its someone who is making a living selling audio and then posts comments under another name, then that conduct is reprehensible and should be clearly unacceptable to AGon. I have noticed occassional solicita...
Balanced vs RCA Interconnects
Very interesting dialog. I have been considering this issue now that I have a BAT pre which is a balanced designed with single ended inputs and outputs added for flexibility. I have been using SE since my front end and amp have se only. I like the...
Dealer Ethics? - Anonymous disparagement
Perfectimage- I think you misunderstood, Dunleavy dealer apparently trashing competitors product, not one of his own lines. Very low class, IMO, and most importantly, just another reason to take any internet opinions with a grain of salt until you...

DVD upgrade
Dekay- My HT and 2 channel are separate in space and function. The DVD would be used with a Loewe Planus 16:9 which is VERY source dependent. Other components in HT in a small room (11x11) are Yamaha RVX 995, Sony A55 DSS, 5 NHT superzeros and 2 N...
spades vs. bananas
Redkiwi- thanks, I guess that should have been obvious if I thought about it. Anyone out there know about this super duper crimper. sounds like just what I need.
spades vs. bananas
Redkiwi- I am about to terminate some AQ cables with spades (amp) and bananas (speaker). Others must be, as well. If you could post your recommended method to prevent oxidation, I'm sure lots of us would be in your debt.
