problem with preamp switching sources
I've never hear of it before. I think you are telling us that you are using a vintage Onkyo pre amp which has so-called convenience outlets and that you have the active crossover power supply plugged in to those convenience outlets. Spontaneous sw...
problem with preamp switching sources
Hey Joshl- tell us what the symptoms are.
How do I connect two preamps at the same time?
Its possible but not recommended at all. Will result in significant signal degradation and possible equipment damage.
Teres Audio Verus Direct Couples Motor, Anyone?
There is a long thread that addresses this in some detail. Try searching.
Transformer hum with AC fluctuations
I'm guessing that you both have a power issue, whether from inside or outside the house, who knows? I have also been told that sometimes some blue-tac can help dissipate the resonance.
Give the new Kid Rock a shot.
Thanks for the heads up. I will have to give the samples a listen on amazon. Since his duet with Cheryl Crowe I have been giving the Kid a chance. I do have more than a little country in my collection and Willie and Norah are both favorites (must ...

Blindjim- I just received an APL 3910 in a flight case and it arrived just fine. IIRC, they are doing a joint purchase of flight cases for 3910s (I expect that they fit most of the recent Denons) over on the apl forum.

there aregood use for peanuts- between an outer and an inner box, or between multiple, smaller, well packed boxes inside one larger box. Otherwise, yes, bubble wrap or rigid insulation foam are the way to go.
Transformer hum with AC fluctuations
Since it varies in time and intensity, I would have to guess that it is something coming in on the AC, but using an isolation transformer would seem to rule that out. Some units seem to be prone to transformer hum, like my old Moscode. If the hum ...
