what is this noise caused from possibly
VTF= vertical tracking forceVTA= vertical tracking anglechanging tone arm height will change VTA, not VTF.From your descripton, sounds like too much antiskate at first and then too little after you raised VTF. That makes sense geometrically. And a...

Sounds to me like mistracking, likely from incorrect VTF or antiskate. Try going through the range of VTF in small steps, since mistracking can occur either way, but more likely with too little VTF. Too much antiskate can also cause mistracking an...
rythmikaudio subwoofers
I'm thinking the same thing. Good winter project for me and one of my buddies who is just starting to move up to entry high end stuff. As you can tell, they do not have the digital room correction of the DD (or Velodyne SMS-1). Bobby recommends ru...
rythmikaudio subwoofers
They look very interesting, but you understand, I assume that these are DIY in terms of the cabinets.
Coincident Super eclipse vs Hyperion 938
The hyperions appear here pretty often. At a show in NYC a fews years ago, I liked them. Thought that they might have a tendency for artificial detail that made them a good match for tube amplification.
How to make Plinius SB-301 go into standby.
Some pre-amps or system controllers can activate with a 12v "trigger" signal; If your pre-amp processor has a 12 v trigger out, you connect it there and then turning the processor on will turn on the amp.
Listening for tube degradation
Len W- not to be contrary, but what you are hearing is microphonics. Some tubes are microphonic when new, some are not. I don't know if this can also occur due to aging. It may be sign that the tube needs to be replaced, but it is NOT a reliable i...

Rich; organic true balanced amp w good detail $6k
Sutts- Maybe the power requirement for deep bass (esp. w/HT) can be met via the subwoofer amp, running your mains hi-passed and/or with mains and center set for small via the processor.
Need Speakers at least 4 feet high
Denis- How about some of the line source array speakers that are getting some serious promotion here on audiogon? Maybe they even have an in-home audition policy. If so, let me know, I'm dying to hear them. And chill out everyone!!! Seems like eve...
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
If you are happy with DLP, there are good buys out there. I think that there are several reasons why SD looks crappy on HD sets-1. Crappy tuner.2. Oftentimes, stretched picture to fill screen.3. Analog to digital conversion4. Larger picture, which...
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
I think that the thin/sexy form factor is why plasma and LCD get all the buzz. Also some people see "rainbows" w/DLP but that is supposedly better with 3rd gen sets.
Top 5 Entry-level audiophile speakers $1500-2000?
At that price new, you would have to look at Vandersteen 2CE Sigs, I would think, for a floor stander. For a monitor, Sequerra Met 7s.
cantelever not straight, advise please.
If it was rated as a 9 or 10 then I would ask for a refund. Its not as advertised.
6350 tube who makes them?
I think this is an NOS only tube; used extensively by Jud Barber at Joule Electra,
