Salamander racks - good prices wanted Whatever; there are lots of threads that say "where can I buy?" where are good deals on, etc, so maybe we have found the line in the sand.If you read the Synergy reviews at Audioreview.com some of the posts mention where they got a good deal.
Thanks to a fellow A-gon member I too have had the pleasure of discussing and trading tunes with Charlie. Thanks!
Break in period for power conditioners ? Not aware of a break in period. Bloated bass is sometimes caused by dirty power, so maybe the bass is OK and you need to adjust your speaker placement or other room effects. I personally think the Monsters are good for HT as demonstrated by the TV...
Tubes are not so unreliable My mother was the utility operator on the Sylvania tube assembly line starting during WW2 until about 1957. She could do all the jobs, so would train the new people and fill in for people out. She still has a 1950s Sylvania table radio that works ...
I'm moving--advice please Here is your excuse to get a new system that runs on the higher voltage!! Good Luck!
Power cables best home? The CD player is a good choice. The Amp either second, or it you have a IEC connection of a power strip or conditioner. The cord on a power strip/conditioner will affect everything plugged into it. I also found a big improvement upgrading the cord...
DVD players killing new formats...... No different than people replacing their Prologic HT Receiver with one that plays AC3 and DTS; or before that getting a stereo TV to replace the mono one. It will take time. Same for HDTV. It is coming slowly. Not everyone will be running out to b...
Transport for HDCD Agree with Blackie; you need a new DAC, not a transport if you want HDCD. MSB Link DAC III has a HDCD module. Also Cambridge Audio S700.
Is DVD-A still-born? DVD-A will be here eventually because it is just the natural progression of redbook CDs from 16 bit, to 18, then 20, now 24/96. This is why as is said above that a lot of record labels are already on board. It will be standard fair in DVD players ...
I found it DOH !!! Where is that back button??
Not happy yet You will have to experiment, but what you describe can sometimes be caused by dirty AC power. Try a AC power conditioner. Ones that work well for not too much cash are: Monster HTS2000; Vansevers Super Companion; Audio Power Pack II; Panamax 1000....
DVD players killing new formats...... This is why I have been saying DVD-A will win in the end over SACD. DVD-A is basically 24bit/192Mhz. Most DVD Players are currently 24bit/96Mhz. The only reason there are no cheap 24/192 DVD machines is the price of the 24/192 chips and related ci...
Tube Friendly Speakers Find a used pair of B&W P Series. P4, P5, or P6. P5 probably the best. I know of people using them with great results with the Decware Zen(??) amp that is less than 10 watts I believe.
Custom jumpers? I would give DIY jumpers a try. If you can use the same speaker wire as your long runs try that first.
Another Cryogenic Freeze Article HFNRR Stan Warren is a big believer in freezing. He told me we can all do it at home with some Dry Ice even though Dry Ice is not as cold as Cryo. He did a test with some friends at a local university near him (Oregon) who had a cryo chamber to freeze t... |
