CD Burners: Which one to buy? When it comes out the new Microsoft Windows XP operating system will have CD burn and record software built in. Maybe save up for new Multimedia computer instead.
best sub- 1000 Transport, new or used If your DAC has a Delta Sigma chip, the best buy is at Best Buy. It is an Aiwa CD Changer for $89. Fine out of the box, but search for threads on Stan Warren. He can modify the Aiwa for $150 and make it a killer transport.
Insurance On Equipment Why wouldn't the regular personal property coverage take care of this?? My policy has $175,000 of replacement cost coverage already. I do not own that much property as it is!! Why should I pay even more for the audio gear??
Seek Integrated for 1000 dollars, new / used, suggestions? Right now there is a Creek 5350R demo on sale at AudioAdvisor.com for $1095.
Seek Integrated for 1000 dollars, new / used, suggestions? For $650 used $1000 new the Audio Refinement Complete (made by YBA) is a good choice.
The Return of the LASER Turntable? There was a laser LP player about 20 years ago. It was over $10,000 (in that periods $$$$).
Integrating sub with main speakers I have found it easiest to integrate a sub in the corner. REL subs for example are designed to sound best in the corner. If you listen to classical, start with the right corner, which is where bass strings usually are in a real orchestra. You could...
Buy a DAC or buy an SACD player? MSB Link DAC is fine. Forget the HDCD chip and spend that money by sending it to Stan Warren in Oregon for modification. Search his name to get more information.
Suggestions For A DAC I agree with Ed. Get new speakers first.
Recommend me a good psychologist I still purchase recorded music based on the quality of the performance only. The high-end system enables the great performance to sound the best possible. I could care less if another recording is technically better in an engineering sense. I hav...
are we are own worst enemies? Go to eBay and sell your stuff for more than you should be allowed to. If you want 65% for near mint, then ask 65% and be patient, a person who really wants it will appear eventually. 50% is for demo traders. At 50% people can trade stuff, try it ...
What are the best CD-changers? Stan Warren will modify a multi-disc Pioneer DVD Player into a great stand alone changer/player for around $250 plus the cost of the DVD Player that you supply. He also does a $160 modification to the Aiwa Changer/Transport that is well worth it.
Advice for skipping CD Do many of your CDs skip? That is possibly a sign that the laser may be slightly out of alignment. If because of scratches, I have used a scratch remover made by DiscWasher with good results. It is a slightly abrasive polish.
What are the best CD-changers? For using a changer as a transport for a DAC, the best bang for the buck is a $89 Aiwa at Best Buy. For a player the above recommendations are good at their price points, plus the Rotel with the same Burr Brown chip.
Bookshelf sized-cost no object I believe one of the B&W Signature Series is that size. |
