Which Totem speakers I would choose between the Mites and Rainmakers for your application. I have heard both and I generally prefer the Rainmaker (better LF extension and a more full sound), but the Mites are oustanding for the price.Michael
Best Integrated Amp. For a warm, musical integrated you're going to have a hard time doing better than the Jolida 302b. I have preferred this little guy to expensive McIntosh separates. And for a $900 list price ($600-700 used) you just can't go wrong.Michael
Please help for performance with low cash...... I would recommend a California Audio Labs Sigma DAC in your case (available under $300 used). If you can wait and save up another $100 or so, you could get a used Music Hall CD-25 cd player, which I think is one of the best bargains in one-box CD p...
Totem Rainmakers vs Sttaf To answer your question of Rainmaker vs Mite's, the Rainmaker has better LF extension, a touch better in the midrange, and better "fullness". That said, the Mites sound very, very good for the price, and I would say clearly represent an alternativ...
Totem Rainmakers vs Sttaf The difference between the two speakers (besides the price) will be a slighly more delicate mid to high frequency response with the Sttaf's, and more fullness with the Rainmaker. You might actually get a subjectively better bass response with the ...
Speaker Advise Please Looking for a Lively Sound I second the Thiels. From what you describe, you might also be a candidate for electrostatic or planar speakers, such as Martin Logan or Magnepan.Michael
AKG Acoustics K1000 Headphones I listened to these once and found them to be one of the most unique and detailed presentations of the music that I had ever heard. It still intrigues me to this day and I will buy a pair when I can afford it.If you prefer a very rich, warm sound t...
Need an integrated amplifire for totem forest I guess I don't completely understand your question. Do you already have a tube preamp and want an amplifier to go with it? If so, you don't need an integrated amplifier (which already has the preamp section built-in). Or are you asking for a hybr...
Links to STO? Try http://www.tsto.comThe Stereo Trading Outlet is a great place to buy and sell gear, and Mike (the owner) is a really great guy. There aren't a whole lot of things I miss from living in Philadelphia, but that was one of them.Good luck,Michael
Cd Storage Go to www.boltz.com and check out the CD-600 rack, which hold 600 CD's and is infinitely expandable (you can just gang multiple sections together for storage in multiples of 600).I love mine.Michael
Integrated Tube Around $1000 Jolida 302b.It sounds great in general and exceptional with Totem speakers (I've heard it with Arro's and Staaf's, not model 1's though). It's also well in your price range new.Michael

which amp should i get another marsh, aragon, eAR I think you need to provide some more details about what kind of sound you have now and what you don't like about it. What are you looking to achieve, and what is your budget? That will help us offer any suggestions.I personally disagree with your...
Do many CD players also have digital inputs? You might try a California Audio Labs Tercet, which has coax input and output (but you'd need a Toslink converter). What's your objection to simply buying a transport and DAC (separately) -- they can still be done under your price point, and done ...
looking to go from seperates to intergrated I've heard the DK VS-1 Reference with some Von Schweikert speakers and it sounds great. It certainly doesn't make any compromises at its price point by being an integrated. (The DK Is a hybrid, by the way.)Michael |
